THE PLAY: Norfolk Tides -110
The top 5-6 starting pitchers right now CURRENTLY in AAA are so much higher from a power rating perspective that it's the only time I'm actively looking to BET ON a starting pitcher. Of course, all of the other boxes need to be checked for a bet but I believe that to be the case with Norfolk here.
Cade Povich is an absolute stud, he has a 1.11 ERA and 0.90 WHIP with 45 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched at AAA so far this season and is the top pitching prospect at the AAA level right now behind Paul Skenes. Povich would probably be in the big leagues already in any other organization but with John Means and Kyle Bradish now healthy the Orioles have more starting pitching than they know what to do with and have the luxury of limiting Povich's innings at the AAA level for the time being.
The call is probably coming soon, Povich went 6 innings in a dominant outing at Nashville in his most recent start and I'm guessing Norfolk challenges him to give them length again here. Certainly not going to just bet on a starting pitcher but that's a nice bonus when you have a Norfolk lineup that's absolutely loaded with the likes of Jackson Holliday, Connor Norby, Coby Mayo and Kyle Stowers who make up the most productive 1-4 that you will find in the International League.
I haven't been as impressed with Memphis, the Redbirds are a decent team that improve by getting back Jordan Walker for the time being and have Matt Carpetner on the squad for rehab but this Redbirds lineup isn't as good as Norfolk. Gordon Graceffo has some potential but will put some guys on base. I don't know how Norfolk could possibly be an underdog (-110 to the -120 for Memphis) all things considered here.
THE PLAY: LG Twins -218
Good parlay piece here if you are looking for one. Hard to believe LG Twins lose this game at home with Casey Kelly on the mound.
