The PLAY: Kentucky -2.5 (-110)
140 Florida at Kentucky
The Gators have looked good with a 3-1 record. Even the 24-11 loss at Utah doesn’t look bad in retrospect. But they have performed much better in the swamp, than on the road. Florida has lost 8 of 9 games away from home, all but one by five points or more.
They lost to the Wildcats 26-16 a year ago when Kentucky was ranked 20th in the nation. The offense looks sound with a 6.23 yards per play number. The defensive numbers are a bit misleading having faced McNeese State and Charlotte, and Utah without its starting quarterback.
Kentucky is a perfect 4-0, but this is a huge step up game in terms of strength of schedule. Having faced Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Akron and Vanderbilt thus far. In fact, the next four games for Kentucky will be against teams currently ranked in the Top 25.
Mark Stoops is in his 11th season in Lexington, and he hasn’t had a losing home spread record since 2018. While the easy schedule has its drawbacks, Kentucky should enter this game in better health than the Gators.
