THE PLAY: Gradey Dick (TOR) Over 6.5 Points vs LA Lakers
Gradey Dick’s third season hasn’t gotten off to the start he’d like, averaging only 6.9 points per game with 31-percent shooting from three-point range. However, he should have a favorable matchup tonight against the Lakers. Dick averaged 14.4 points per game last season and he averaged 22.5 points per game in two meetings with the Lakers. With RJ Barrett on the shelf, Dick's role has increased and he scored 14 points in Toronto's 121-118 home win over the Blazers on Tuesday. Dick went 6-of-8 from the field and had a plus-minus rating of +14, which showed that he may be shaking off some of those early-season struggles. In addition to Barrett, starting center Jakob Poeltl is also expected to be out for this one, which means the Raptors' best path to success against the Lakers is to go with a small-ball lineup (and more minutes for Dick). Los Angeles gives up three-point opportunities and the Lakers are bottom-10 in three-point percentage allowed this season. Dick should have some opportunities to fire in a matchup that he enjoyed success in last season.
