THE PLAY: Toronto Blue Jays +102 Z Eflin (RHP), J Berrios (RHP) Must Start
The A.L. East is going to be a dogfight and it starts right here. Berrios will make his third Opening Day start for Toronto. Off an excellent spring, (2-0, 2.18 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) he enters the season in fine form. Recall that Berrios had a 1.44 ERA through seven March and April starts last season. Eflin goes for the O's and he had a 5.40 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in four spring starts. Berrios and the Blue Jays also faced Eflin on Opening Day last year, while he was pitching for Tampa. The Jays scored six runs against Eflin that day, taking him deep three times, en route to a 8-2 victory. This one may be more competitive but I still like Toronto's chances of earning another opening day victory.

THE PLAY: Houston -8.0 (-105)
The Boilermakers have had a fortunate draw, as they've faced the High Point Panthers and the McNeese Cowboys. Things now get a whole lot more difficult; Houston is 27-1 its past 28 games. Unlike the Panthers and Cowboys, the Cougars' record came against quality opponents. After a 38-point cakewalk in the opening round, the Cougars got tested by a really good Gonzaga team in the second round. That close game experience should serve them well. I don't think Purdue is quite as strong as Gonzaga. The Cougars have had their wake-up call. I see them pulling away for a double-digit victory.
