Expert NBA Props for Thursday: Michael Porter Jr Brooklyn Nets OVER 24.5 Points (-108)

Michael Porter Jr is coming off a down game where he scored only 21 points against the Los Angeles Lakers partially due to a horrendous 0-9 shooting effort from long distance, but he’s still scored 25+ points in 62% of his games this season and this game offers a great bounce back opportunity.

Porter Jr has already scored 24 & 34 points against the Orlando Magic with some amazing volume and court time (23 & 24 FGAs across 36 & 38 mins).

That volume should continue because Cam Thomas has already been ruled out (personal) and MPJ has cleared this line in 14/21 games (24 twice) without him while averaging 26.6 points per game.

The Magic rank bottom 5 in defensive rating & defending the restricted area during the last 15 games and MPJ scores 31% of his points in that area.

Opposing wings have thrived against Orlando recently including Lu Dort (18 Pts), Brandon Ingram (35), Simone Fontecchio (23) and Trey Murphy (21).

The Magic are favored by -9.5 points, but I think Brooklyn can hang around and Porter Jr should be able to eclipse this number with volume alone.

Expert NBA Props for Thursday: Kelly Oubre Jr Philadelphia 76ers OVER 14.5 Points (-118)

Kelly Oubre is great form recently as he’s scored 15+ points in each of his last three games and 7 of his last 10 games while landing on 14 exactly once and averaging 15.6 points per game.

Paul George is still serving his 25-game suspension and Oubre Jr has covered this line in 8 straight games without PG but with Joel Embiid on the court.

Embiid is listed as questionable, but he just rested on the second leg of a back-to-back and Oubre may see more volume without him anyway.

In the three games since George was suspended, we have seen Oubre score 15, 15 & 19 points on 12, 12 & 13 field goal attempts.

Now Oubre gets a dream matchup against a Los Angeles Lakers team that has allowed the MOST points to opposing small forwards with an average of 27.1 points per game.

Recently we have seen opposing small forwards feast against the Lakers including OG Anunoby (25 Pts), De’Andre Hunter (19), Jaylon Tyson (20), DeMar DeRozan (32), Keldon Johnson (27) and Trey Murphy (42).

The Lakers rank bottom 5 in defense against at-the-break threes & the Net area during their last 5 games and Oubre scores 59% of his points from those areas.

The Lakers are favored by only -3.5 and we have a relatively high total of 231.5 so we should see a competitive & high scoring affair with neither team dealing with a back-to-back situation.
