Bournemouth vs Sunderland Prediction
Back in the summer, Sunderland fans would have been thrilled to be sitting mid-table at the end of February. In all likelihood, they still are, but the route the Black Cats have taken here might be headed in the wrong direction.
In the mix for European if not Champions League spots for the first few months of the campaign, heady stuff for a promoted side, and Regis Le Bris pushing all of the right buttons, recent form has been something less, dropping three straight in the Prem, and the unbeaten mark at Stadium of Light put to the sword in recent weeks by by Liverpool and, more worryingly, Fulham last Sunday.
Goals are drying up, midfield pilot Granit Xhaka recently missed a month, but others suspect a delayed reaction from December-January when a wide swath of the squad was participating in AFCON; Le Bris held things togther in their absences but the stop-start lineup adjustments might be taking a toll.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth has a score to settle after losing 3-2 at Stadium of Light on November 29, but results in seven straight have moved the Cherries up the table to 8th place and in striking distance of a European spot. Andoni Iraola has a functional forward line with the seasoned Brazilian Evanilson and Frencch teenager Junior Kroupi always lurking in the box, and included in recent results is a win at the Vitality Stadium over Liverpool.
As Sunderland’s road form was in question even when flying high in front of the festive period, Iraola’s weapons will have their chances, and the Bournemouth win price at -125 or thereabouts doesn’t seem bad value at all, while using the same line of thinking we also might look at a smaller investment on a Bournemouth Halftime/Fulltime (at +175) to potentially enhance the return. Under 2.5 goals at even money could also be worth a look, and for a flyer, a 2-0 correct score for the Cherries would return a tasty +800.
