Tottenham vs Wolves Analysis

It could have been two defeats from two for Wolves last week without Jose Sa’s penalty intervention against Fulham, and the men from the West Midlands look to be really struggling right now, currently on a nine-game winless run in the league heading into Saturday’s game against Tottenham.

Tottenham got a little fortunate themselves last Sunday with a last-gasp equalizer from Harry Kane which was enough to rescue a point for them against Chelsea in what became a rather heated affair between the two managers afterward.

Wolves hold a terrific record against Tottenham in London in recent seasons, winning three of their last four meetings there against Tottenham. That includes February’s 2-0 win over in the capital, with Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker getting on the scoresheet to bank all three points for the visitors in that one.

All Downhill For Wolves

While Wolves no doubt enjoyed that 2-0 victory against Tottenham back in February, it’s been all downhill for them since then, registering just one solitary road win and four points total over the preceding six months.

That sole win came through a Conor Coady goal against an Everton team who were desperately fighting relegation last season, so Wolves really have been in some sub-par form over the majority of 2022. On top of that, Wolves released Coady to that same Everton side in a loan deal over the summer.

While Wolves manager Bruno Lage continues to transition his side from a back-three to a back-four defensive system, hence the reason why Coady was let go as his sweeper role became redundant, his defensive presence and influence as captain was absolutely huge at the club, as was his contributions to the local community. You can certainly make an argument that Wolves lost a lot more than they gained with his leaving.

Conte Continues To Change Tottenham’s Fortunes

While Tottenham can count themselves somewhat fortunate to have escaped with a point last week against Chelsea, they nevertheless kept intact a run that has seen them go unbeaten across eight-straight league games now and dropping just one league home game since February, against the aforementioned Wolves.

What’s been even more impressive for Tottenham is their goal-scoring ability over that stretch, banking 2+ goals in 12 of their last 15 Premier League home games overall.

Tottenham vs Wolves Prediction

Wolves look like a team without shape right now and while Bruno Lage continues to make moves in the transfer window in order to upgrade his squad, Tottenham looks like the finished article on the other side.

Wolves have conceded at least two goals in each of their last three road starts and face a Tottenham side on absolute fire offensively, ranking joint first in the league on goals scored this year along with over 2.5 goals cashing in each of their last three matches as well.

Take Tottenham -1.25 on the Asian handicap to win and cover early here on Saturday against Wolves over in the English Premier League.
