Food City 500 Track: Bristol Motor Speedway

The Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway takes place on a 0.533-mile high-banked concrete oval known as “The Last Great Colosseum.”

With banking up to 28 degrees in the turns, Bristol produces some of the fastest short-track racing in NASCAR, where laps click off quickly and traffic becomes a factor almost immediately.

The concrete surface adds another layer of challenge, as grip levels change throughout a run and tire wear can become unpredictable.

This race is all about aggression, track position, and survival, as drivers battle in tight quarters with constant contact and very little room for error.

Bristol rewards drivers who can manage lapped traffic, keep their composure, and maintain speed on both short and long runs.

Recent success has come from drivers like Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Christopher Bell, who excel at adapting to the changing track conditions.

The Food City 500 is one of the most intense races on the schedule, where tempers flare and chaos is always just one bump away.

Last 4 races here, he’s finished in the top 10 in 3 of those. The last couple races he’s shown some good speed on tracks smaller than the cookie cutters (Darlington and Martinsville) so I like the direction he and the team are heading.

He was 4th and 9th in 2 races here last year, and even though they’re in new cars, I love how comfortable he is at this track.
