Go Bowling at The Glen Track: Watkins Glen International

The Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International is run on a 2.45-mile road course known for its high-speed layout and flowing corners.

Unlike many technical road courses, Watkins Glen rewards speed and rhythm, with long straightaways and sweeping turns that allow for multiple passing opportunities, especially into Turn 1 and the Inner Loop.

The track surface  is relatively smooth, so grip is solid, but braking zones and shifting precision are still critical for maintaining lap time.

Road course specialists and drivers with strong braking and throttle control tend to excel here, while others can struggle with missed corners or wheel hop under heavy braking.

One of the biggest wildcards at Watkins Glen is the weather—rain can hit at any moment, completely  changing strategy and forcing teams to adapt on the fly with tire decisions and pit timing.

NASCAR allows rain tires on road courses, so wet conditions can create chaos and shake up the  running order.

The Go Bowling at The Glen often turns into a strategy-heavy race where versatility and adaptability are just as important as raw speed.

Go Bowling at The Glen Top 10 Pick

A. J. Allmendinger (+110)

This is a classic road course specialist spot. Allmendinger is one of the best “ringers” in the field when it comes to road courses. His only  Top 10 finish this season came on this track type, which tells you where his edge lies.

He was right on the number last year too, finishing 11th at this course—so the baseline is already close without needing a huge jump.

The biggest upside angle is weather. If rain comes into play and teams switch to rain tires, that’s where Allmendinger’s skill set really separates.

Experience and feel on wet road courses give  drivers like him a massive advantage, and he can move through the field quickly.
