Golden State Warriors vs New Orleans Pelicans Betting Analysis
The New Orleans Pelicans continue their west coast road trip at Oracle Arena for a Western Conference clash with the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors watched a three game winning streak fall by the wayside in a 99-96 home loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Pelicans crushed the Portland Trail Blazers 124-90 for their fifth straight victory.
This will be the fourth and final game in a regular season series that New Orleans leads 2-1. Tip-off is scheduled 10:00 PM EST/7:00 PST as the nightcap of a TNT Tuesday night doubleheader.
Pelicans Cruise To Fifth Straight Victory
The New Orleans Pelicans moved a game above .500 at 38-37 after winning their fifth straight game over Portland on Monday night.
The Pelicans owned the interior with a staggering 53-29 rebounding advantage while outscoring the Blazers 62-54 in the paint. Branson Ingram led all scorers with 29 points on an efficient 12-19 from the floor.
Jonas Valanciunas recorded a massive 10 point, 21 rebound double-double while CJ McCollum added 17 points and 8 assists. The Pelicans currently occupy the 8th seed in the Western Conference, only a half game behind the Warriors. New Orleans is middle of the in scoring with 114.4 points a game on 48% from the field.
Defense has been their calling card as they sit at 5th in defensive rating and 9th in defensive scoring with only 112.4 points allowed per game. The Pels are sporting a clean injury report, a breath of fresh air nowadays.
Warriors Home Cooking
The Golden State Warriors slipped to 39-37 on the season after losing to the Timberwolves on Sunday. The Twolves dominated the glass with 49-37 rebounding advantage.
Jordan Poole led all scorers with 27 points off the bench on 8-16 from the field. Steph Curry added 20 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds while Klay Thompson chipped in with 15 points.
The Warriors currently occupy the 7th seed in the Western Conference, tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the all important 6th seed and only a half game ahead of New Orleans. The Warriors rank 2nd in scoring with 118.2 points a game on 47.6% shooting.
Defense has been a different story as they sit 16th in defensive rating but 23rd in defensive scoring with 117.7 points allowed per game.
Andrew Wiggins remains out due to personal reasons while Draymond Green (neck) and Jordan Poole (wrist) are both listed as probable for this contest.
Golden State Warriors vs New Orleans Pelicans Expert Prediction
The Golden State Warriors enter this contest as 8.5 point home favorites with a total set at 235. It goes without saying that this is a huge game as these teams are separated by only a half game in the standings with only a week and a half left in the regular season.
The home team has prevailed and covered in all three head-to-head meetings this season. The Pelicans are on fire as they have covered the spread in each of their last five games.
They boast the NBAs best three-point defense and that has helped tremendously against Golden State this season. The Pelicans have held the Warriors to a total of 32-106 (30.2%) from long range.
Meanwhile the Warriors failed to cover the spread at home against Minnesota on Sunday and are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games. New Orleans has an outside shot of winning this game, so I will gladly take the 8.5 points.
