Motivation On Each Side

For the Thunder it’s obvious…they have to even this series at 2-2 and regain home floor advantage

For the Pacers there’s strong motivation to not be satisfied leaving home without being ahead 3-1

Oklahoma City has been 1H money off of a straight-up loss through these Playoffs…

They are 5-0 su & ats in this situation 

Won & covered all 5 by 6 or more points

3-0 at home in this spot but also 2-0 on the road AND both were Game 4’s (at Denver they won 42-36 & @ Minnesota they won 65-57)  

 However…Indiana is 7-2 1H at home this post season (2-1 as home underdog) 

Fundamental Matchup

Oklahoma City HC Mark Daignault shortened the rotation in Game #3 basically going with an Iron 6 + 18 minutes & change from C Isaiah Hartenstein   

Indiana 9 man rotational depth (all 15 minutes +) wore the Thunder out 

It was the second change Daignault has made this series electing to start SG Cason Wallace and push Hartenstein to 6th man status

OKC probably needs to get back to getting at least a few more minutes from some combo of reserves Aaron Wiggins / Isaih Joe / Kenrich Williams / Jaylen Williams

In The End

Oklahoma City if they didn’t know before then they know now that they have to focus on building a large lead early and often 

They have to have Indiana at a substantial scoreboard deficit after 3 quarters to buffer the Pacers 4th quarter assaults 

Being behind by 4 at the half 64-60 and needing a +9 3rd quarter just to lead by a mere 5 points heading into the 4th is not sufficient 

OKC has led by 6 or more at the end of the 1st quarter in all 3 games of this series and by 12 & 18 at the half in 2 of those

Indiana extreme energy from their backup guards T.J. McConell & Benedict Matherun was not matched by Oklahoma City last game which very uncharacteristically allowed 40 points in the 2nd quarter 

Figure OKC fully intent on applying their elite level defensive ability right from the opening tip and not allowing Indiana to out hustle them in that manner again    

Likely they don’t let off of the gas pedal here tonight

Desperate team with a 5-0 trend working in their favor points directly toward OKC taking the 1H by 5+
