Inter Milan’s Current Form

Yes, “We Believe in Cesc (Fabregas),” and his Como side. Usually, at least… crafting a case for the lakesiders against Inter Milan, however, is a bit of a challenge.

First, what’s at stake here, as Inter, making a short trip north from Milan, less than an hour away, is closing in on the Scudetto, seven points clear at the top of the Serie A table, and no more European distractions to worry about as Cristian Chivu is on the verge of bringing the title back to the San Siro after the Nerazzurri were pipped by Antonio Conte’s Napoli last spring.

The fly in the ointment for Sunday could be the status of striker Lautaro Martinez, who made a dramatic return on Sunday after missing a month with a leg injury and scored a brace in the smashing 5-2 win over Roma, but apparently suffered another leg muscle strain in the dying moments of the match and looks to miss this Sunday clash.

The absence of Lautaro (Serie A’s top goal-scorer with 16 in 26 matches) can’t be minimized for Inter, either, as in the seven games her recently missed, Chuivu’s side won only twice, drawing on three other occasions. Marcus Thuram (who also scored a goal and added two assists in the win over Roma) and young Pio Esposito will thus assume their places as target men for Inter on Sunday.

Como’s Current Form

Meanwhile, Fabregas has to figure out how his side can solve Inter’s Swiss goalie Yann Sommer, as Como hasn’t been able to score in four matches (including a Coppa Italia match on March 3) vs. Inter since the beginning of last season, including a 4-0 Inter romp at the San Siro in December 6 when Thurram, Hakan Çalhanoglu, and Carlos Augusto all joined Lautaro on the scoresheet.

Recent series history, with Como unable to score, paints a daunting picture for Fabregas, though keep in mind that Cesc’s keeper Jean Butez has kept 17 clean sheets of hios own this season between Serie A and the Coppa, and did keep Inter off of the board in the 0-0 Coppa draw last month.

Como vs Inter Milan Prediction

Our definite featured recommendation at the Sinigaglia is under 2.5 goals, priced very fairly in the -110 range; with Lautaro out and Como’s inability to solve Sommer in recent meetings, getting to three goals looks a mountain to climb.

We’d be inclined to leave it there, but if looking for a supplemental punt, a nil-nil correct score, which already happened between these two last month, would return a very tasty +1000. The Draw price at +230 also has some interest, but the “under” is the clear best option in this one by the lake.
