Johnny Fisher vs Dave Allen Betting Analysis
The rematch of a highly-entertaining heavyweight bout that took place late last year between ‘The Romford Bull’ Johnny Fisher, and Doncaster’s Dave Allen, will take place this Saturday night over in London, England.
The undefeated Johnny Fisher, coming in fresh off seven straight knockout victories, was a heavy favorite to continue that run in December’s first fight, yet Dave Allen was able to roll back the clock and deliver one of the best performances of his career, with many fans and pundits believing he did enough to get his hand raised in that one.
Johnny Fisher comes into this rematch as the -275 favorite, with Dave Allen coming back as a +210 underdog on Saturday.
Rebuild Process For Fisher
While Johnny Fisher did look impressive across the opening twelve fights of his career, eleven of which came by stoppage, he never faced any sort of adversity across that run, with kickboxer Dmitri Bezus, and the ever-reckless Alen Babic, representing the best names on that thin resume.
Matchroom Boxing, likely believing Dave Allen was a long way past his best with most of his highlight wins and performances coming between six to ten years prior to that first fight, seemingly set up Allen for a young Johnny Fisher to take care of.
However, the plan never materialized, as Allen proved he was more than a match for Fisher’s aggression, putting the younger man down in the 5th round of that first fight.
Allen Looks More Focused Now Than Ever
After a stop-start career that has had retirements thrown in on top as well, 33-year-old Dave Allen hasn’t had the smoothest career trajectory to date.
Big fights against Dillian Whyte and Luis Ortiz were interspersed with not much else happening, only for him then to come back and knock out Lucas Browne in sensational fashion in what appeared at the time to be a statement win, before then going into retirement less than a year later after a loss to David Price.
However, now in his early 30s, Allen has arguably never looked more focused, and ahead of Saturday’s critical rematch, he’s already stated that his far greater experience, both in the amateur and professional ranks, will be enough to seal the win over Fisher this time around.
Johnny Fisher vs Dave Allen Expert Prediction
While no prop odds have been released for this fight at the time of writing, we’re not expecting this one to make it the distance on Saturday.
Johnny Fisher is a very aggressive fighter, but after suffering a perforated eardrum early on against Dave Allen in that first fight, he was forced into survival mode, boxing from the outside for a large portion of that fight, and we don’t envision that being the case once again.
While Fisher’s camp may well want him to go into this one looking to be smarter and to try and outbox Allen, in his home city of London, especially in a relatively small arena like the Copper Box, that’s unlikely to happen.
The crowd noise will be deafening in there, and just as Allen has stated in the lead up to this fight, it’s likely that the inexperienced Fisher will be dragged into a firefight at some point during the rematch.
Both of these guys can crack hard, and if Fisher and Allen do go to war in the middle of the ring, something Allen says will be his key to victory in this fight, we’re expecting one of these men to not make it the distance this weekend.
Johnny Fisher vs Dave Allen Prediction: Fight to Go the Distance – No (-125)
