Undefeated British heavyweight Fabio Wardley looks to get one step closer to a legitimate world title when he takes on similarly undefeated Australian Justis Huni for the WBA Interim Heavyweight belt over in the UK this weekend.

Wardley, who comes off a first-round destruction of Olympian Frazer Clarke in his last fight, has only been brought the distance once across his career so far, and brings an unorthodox power dynamic into the heavyweight division that could prove extremely problematic for some of the more established champions.

Justis Huni meanwhile continues his own ascendancy in the division, beating some decent names on the way, opponents such as former Daniel Dubois foe Kevin Lerena, and Andrew Tabiti as well.

Fabio Wardley comes into this fight as the -360 home favorite, with Justis Huni coming back as a +250 underdog.

Wardley Putting People On Notice After Unassuming Start

Fabio Wardley’s beginnings in boxing have been well-documented at this point, with his white-collar entrance to the sport, as well as his unorthodox aggressive style, garnering the attention of former world title challenger Dillian Whyte and his promotion company in order to fast-track his rise in the sport.

Styles wise, this is an extremely interesting fight, with Fabio Wardley’s front-foot heavy aggressive style going up against Justis Huni’s more fleet-footed technical style for supremacy this weekend.

Fabio Wardley will know route one is by far his best chance of victory in this one, almost coming unstuck in his first fight against Frazer Clarke back in March of last year when he scraped a draw, largely due to knocking Clarke down in that one.

Wardley quickly corrected that mistake in the rematch however, going straight for the jugular against Clarke from the opening bell, and getting the brutal first-round stoppage as a result.

Justis Huni however is also fully aware that that approach presents Wardley’s best path to success, and if he can survive that initial onslaught against a fighter in Wardley that will likely be more fired up than usual here, especially with this fight taking place in his home city of Ipswich, than Huni could well start to outbox the more disorganized Wardley in this one and get the decision, even on hostile territory.

We might have to endure some choppy waters early in this one, but Huni has the greater technical tools in this fight, and if he can weather the early storm, he could well put a halt to Wardley’s rise in the heavyweight division.
