THE PLAY: Philadelphia Phillies Total Over 4.5 (-110) Action
The Phillies' lineup just saw Blue Jays' starter Bowden Francis last week, and short-turnaround situations like that usually benefit the hitter. After a very promising 2024 season, Francis has seemingly lost his way this year. He enters Saturday in the bottom-15th percentile among pitchers in expected ERA, expected batting average allowed, average exit velocity, chase rate, barrel rate and hard-hit rate. His hard-hit rate has climbed from 36.2-percent last year to a whopping 50.8-percent this year. Patrick Corbin was universally panned as (arguably) the worst starting pitcher in baseball the last two years. To put Francis' numbers in some context, he's currently having a worse season than Corbin ever did with the Nationals. Francis has given up 19 home runs in 13 starts this season, including two against the Phillies in 1.2 innings last week. He's only made it past the fifth inning one time in his last nine starts.

THE PLAY: Los Angeles Chargers Over 9.5 Regular Season Wins
DraftKings has released its opening point spreads and totals for every game of the NFL regular season. The Chargers will open the season with a neutral site game against Kansas City in Brazil where heat, humidity and some questionable turf may be able to slow down the high-powered Chiefs' offense. After that, DraftKings has the Chargers favored in ELEVEN-straight games. The last month of LA's schedule has some difficult games against the Eagles, Chiefs and Broncos, but the Chargers may be knocking on nine wins by Thanksgiving if they take care of business in games they are supposed to win. Jim Harbaugh's team was a good bully last season, going 10-2 straight-up in games where the Chargers were favored (both losses came as a favorite of less than a field goal). Their non-division road games are at the Giants, Dolphins, Titans, Jaguars and Cowboys. You can't really ask for an easier non-division road schedule than that.
