We’re looking at a NL Central clash with one of our NRFI plays for today as the Cardinals and Brewers battle in Milwaukee.

The Cardinals send Erick Fedde to the mount who hasn’t allowed a run in eight of 13 starts this season including his last two.

The Brewers have scored less than three runs per game over their last five games. Fedde has been a better pitcher on the road this season sporting a 2.88 ERA compared to his 4.36 home ERA and Milwaukee sits second worst in first inning scoring this season which includes not scoring at home in the first inning in 88% of games.

Milwaukee sends Freddy Peralta to the mound coming off arguably his best performance of the season going six innings while allowing just one hit to the Padres at home.

He has held opponents scoreless in the first inning in 12 of 14 starts this season including seven straight with the Cardinals losers of five straight games.

We get -125 odds for a Cardinals vs Brewers NRFI tonight with these two playing to a NRFI in three of four head-to-head matchups this season including last night. 

NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Athletics vs Kansas City Royals (-120)

On the surface it may seem like we’re crazy to recommend a NRFI play involving Luis Severino with his 1-6 record and 4.77 ERA, but if we drill down a little further this is actually a solid play.

Severino sports a 0.87 ERA on the road in 31 innings pitched this season and has held opponents scoreless in the first inning in 11 of 14 starts.

They play the Royals in Kansas City tonight ranking bottom ten in first inning scoring at home this season, failing to score in the first in 77% of home games.

Current Royals hitter have hit .204 against Severino all time with Kansas City failing to score in the first in six straight games now.

They’ll send Michael Wacha to the mound who has been flawless in the first inning, not allowing a run in all 13 starts this season.

Wacha sports a 1.80 home ERA in 40 innings pitched with the Athletics sitting bottom ten in team batting average across the last week. Play on an Athletics vs Royals NRFI to occur tonight with first pitch at 8:10PM ET and odds listed at -120.
