Let's look at this Marshall-Coastal Carolina game, because this is a perfect example of a team that has found its identity. Since Marshall made the switch to Carlos Del Rio-Wilson at quarterback, this offense is on an absolute heater, averaging nearly 40 points per game in their last four. They are clicking, and they're facing a Coastal defense that has already proven they'll give up points in bunches, getting shelled for 48 by Virginia and 47 by ODU. Marshall is going to score.

But that's not the real story here. The real mismatch—the reason this is such a great play—is on the other side of the ball.

Coastal Carolina's offense is a complete one-trick pony. They are down to a backup quarterback who can't throw the ball effectively, so they've been forced to run it on nearly 70% of their plays in recent weeks. They have to run the ball to survive.
