Milwaukee jumped out to a big early lead in Monday's contest, so neither team was forced to dig deep into its bullpen. Paul Skenes hasn't pitched past the sixth inning since June 8, but the formula has been working for manager Don Kelly. Since the All-Star Game, the Pirates' bullpen is top-6 in baseball in xFIP and strikeout minus walk rate. Prior to this current three-game losing streak, the Pirates had been playing .500 ball (22-22) over the last two months. Pittsburgh's opponents have scored a total of 11 runs in Skenes' last seven starts, and that includes a trip to Colorado where the Rockies scored four runs off the Pirates' bullpen at Coors Field. Those seven starts have seen an average of 4.86 runs per game. Milwaukee's current roster is hitting .116 in 45 plate appearances against Skenes with a 35.5-percent strikeout rate and a .129 weighted on-base average. The under is 33-22-2 in Pittsburgh's road games this season. The under is 32-26-2 in Milwaukee's home games.
