Lens vs Strasbourg Betting Analysis
Two teams in must-win spots on Friday for differing reasons over in French Ligue 1 as Strasbourg continue to battle for their place in the top tier of French football as only goal difference currently separates them from the drop zone right now.
Lens meanwhile will look to take advantage of PSG’s recent missteps in the league and close the six-point gap at the top of the table in order to try and claim their first Ligue 1 title in a quarter-century.
Strasbourg have won just one of their last five league games in all, and are winless in five straight away from home also, so face a tough journey here on Friday against the league’s #1 home team in Lens.
Despite their recent struggles, Strasbourg actually own a really strong head-to-head record of late against Lens in this venue, going unbeaten in three straight here and winning the last two outright, shutting out Lens in both games in the process.
Strasbourg Need To Clean Up First Half Record
Defense has been a major concern for Strasbourg this season, giving up an average of 2.0 goals against per game to opponents on the road this year, tied for 4th most in the league, 12 of which came in just their last five league road starts as well.
Especially concerning has been Strasbourg’s slow starts in games, conceding 58% of all their goals this season inside the opening 45 minutes, something they’ll have to try and clean up ahead of Friday’s visit to Lens.
Not Only Domestic Glory On The Line For Lens
With the Blood and Gold closing in on their best-ever points tally in a single season in Ligue 1 when they posted 68 points back in 1997/98, the year they won the Ligue 1 title, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the title race is all that concerns Lens ahead of this game.
However, France’s automatic two Champions League spots are the fewest out of any of the top five leagues in Europe.
Third place Marseille is currently tied at 60 points right alongside Lens as the northern French side will be looking to consolidate their position in 2nd and automatically punch their ticket to next season’s Champions League, something they haven’t managed since 2002/03.

We’re taking Over 2.5 goals on Friday in the matchup between Strasbourg and Lens over in French Ligue 1.
Strasbourg have really struggled to keep opponents out on the road this season, which may even be an understatement, as they’ve conceded in every single road game they’ve played in this year, with both teams finding the back of the net in a league-high 79% of all of their road games as well.
Lens meanwhile have notched eight goals across just their last three league starts in all, including putting 3 goals past Angers in their last home start, and have the capability to do similar damage here.
While recent head-to-head trends in this venue have tended to be lower-scoring, we believe that trend breaks on Friday and we’re backing Over 2.5 goals between Strasbourg and Lens in French Ligue 1.
