West Ham vs Nottingham Forest | January 6 | 3:00 PM ET
West Ham +200 | Nottingham Forest +140 | Draw +230
A huge relegation six-pointer kicks off the matchday 21 card on Tuesday as the Tricky Trees head down to the English capital to take on West Ham in East London.
Both teams have been in some horrendous form recently, with both ranking bottom-three in the form table currently generating just 0.50 and 0.33 PPG respectively across their last six starts.
That said, there’s a reason the visitors are favored here as the Hammers seem to be going into a tailspin, with Nuno Espirito Santo looking set to become the first manager ever to be fired by two different Premier League teams in the same season, unless something drastic takes place in the very near future.
That drastic change looks extremely unlikely however given that West Ham put in one of the league’s worst ever performances over the weekend in a 3-0 loss to bottom of the table Wolves, a defeat that would put the Hammers a full eight points from safety should they fall again here on Tuesday night against Nottingham Forest.
Forest however, have struggled away from home themselves this season, especially offensively, generating just two wins from ten overall, and averaging the league’s third-lowest goals scored rate (0.70 GF/G) on the road also.
With so much on the line for both teams in this one, expect a cagey affair down in the English capital on Tuesday.
Premier League Predictions: Under 2.5 (-114)
Fulham vs Chelsea | January 7 | 2:30 PM ET
Fulham +240 | Chelsea +105 | Draw +260
Chelsea’s first game without former manager Enzo Maresca went better than what many people expected, securing a 1-1 draw against Manchester City away at the Etihad.
City took the lead early in that game, yet it was a lead that always looked in doubt as Chelsea, especially as the game wore on, continued to pressure and to generate solid chances in that game, one of which paid off late for them in injury time.
Fulham, meanwhile, continued their unbeaten run with an impressive 2-2 draw against Liverpool at home, taking the lead early in that game before coming back to even it up late after Liverpool took the 2-1 lead.
Chelsea own a tremendous record in this fixture against Fulham in their recent meetings in West London, owning a W18, D8, L2 record against the Cottagers across their last 28 head-to-head meetings. The Blues have also won six of their last seven in Craven Cottage as well, so history is certainly on Chelsea’s side here in terms of who the value is to win.
That said, we’re not entirely enthusiastic about betting on a managerless Chelsea side facing a team that have been in good form of late in Fulham, so instead we’re going to opt for the goals market in this one.
All of Chelsea’s last five games have seen both teams score, with Fulham’s last four home games seeing an average of 4.25 GPG being scored also.
We believe that trend continues here on Wednesday, and like the Both Teams to Score -Yes to cash as a result.
Premier League Predictions: Both Teams to Score – Yes (-155)
Manchester City vs Brighton | January 7 | 2:30 PM ET
Manchester City -250 | +600 +220 | Draw +410
Back-to-back draws in the Premier League have really stunted Manchester City’s title challenge to Arsenal across their last couple of starts, with four points lost against both Sunderland and Chelsea respectively ensuring the Gunners now enjoy a full six point gap at the top of the table over their rivals.
However, Arsenal do have a tough game on deck on Thursday against current champions Liverpool over at the Emirates, so City will no doubt see this as a perfect chance to potentially close that gap and reignite the title race once again.
Manchester City’s home form this season has been exceptional, with the Cityzens owning the #1 record in the league since September 1st, and averaging a colossal 2.89 GPG across that timeframe also.
By comparison, Brighton rank as a mid-table team in the league since September 1st, with their two games won away from home all season being a major concern ahead of this one, especially travelling to a venue as difficult as the Etihad is.
What’s even more damning is the fact that Manchester City have lost none of their fifteen home games against Brighton in their history, going all the way back to 1979, with the Seagulls 20% clean sheet percentage away from home this season also doing little to inspire enthusiasm that they can reverse that trend on Wednesday.
Manchester City will be fired up for the win here, and given Brighton’s defensive frailties this season, along with their own ability to score, it could be a game with a few goals in it also.
Premier League Prediction: Manchester City Win and Over 2.5 (-135)
