Leeds vs Fulham | January 17 | 10:00 AM ET
Leeds +115 | Fulham +250 | Draw +230
Two of the most in-form teams in the Premier League right now meet up on Saturday as Fulham, who sit as the joint second-hottest team in the form table currently (2.33 PPG), travel to Yorkshire to take on a Leeds team that has been very strong at home (joint-6th/1.83 PPG).
Fulham will no doubt be confident of improving that recent run as well as they own a terrific record against the bottom sides, winning all of their last five matches against teams located within the bottom-five spots pre-round, as well as the Cottagers winning all of their last five games against newly-promoted teams also.
However, Leeds have shown themselves to be an extremely tough nut to crack of late, with manager Daniel Farke instilling a steely determination in the squad that simply wasn’t there two months ago.
Leeds have lost just one of their last nine games in all, a raucous 4-3 thriller against Newcastle that Leeds actually held the advantage in on three separate occasions.
Leeds, alongside Chelsea, rank as one of only two teams this season yet to be behind at the break on home soil, proving that Elland Road has been a very difficult venue for teams to go and try to get a result.
On the flip side of this, Fulham have scored just 39.9% of their goals inside the first-half this season, with the vast majority of their goals coming later on in games.
If that holds true once again, we like the home team on Saturday to cover the early spread against the visitors.
Premier League Predictions: 1H Leeds +0 [PK] (-139)
Sunderland vs Crystal Palace | January 17 | 10:00 AM ET
Sunderland +155 | Crystal Palace +190 | Draw +220
No team has witnessed a greater drop-off in performance across their last few games than Crystal Palace have, with the Eagles doing only marginally better than West Ham have across their last six games in terms of points accumlated.
However, while West Ham have been poor pretty much all season, Crystal Palace were actually good at one point, but have enjoyed no wins in the league since December 15th.
They face a Sunderland team on Saturday who have fell off the pace themselves across recent weeks, going winless across their last five Premier League games overall, and have averaged just 0.40 GF/G across that recent run as well.
We see more of the same happening this weekend also as despite not playing particularly well of late, Crystal Palace still own the 4th best defensive record on the season so far, and on the road it gets even better, moving up to joint-3rd.
No team has scored fewer goals in the Premier League since the start of December than Sunderland have, netting on just four separate occasions, and with some key players still missing due to international duty, we don’t believe they’ll suddenly be able to flip the switch here and run up the scoreboard.
This is a high line on Saturday for the Sunderland Team Total Under, but sharp money has already pounded it up across the last few days, something we expect to continue until game time.
Premier League Predictions: Sunderland Team Total Under 1.5 (-225)
Aston Villa vs Everton | January 18 | 11:30 AM ET
Aston Villa -145 | Everton +440 | Draw +280
Despite being one of the hottest teams in the Premier League of late, Aston Villa’s hoo-doo against Crystal Palace remained as the Villains were forced to settle for a draw against a team in Palace they’ve continually struggled to beat across recent seasons.
The Villains will attempt to get back on track this weekend however as they host 12th placed Everton over in the West Midlands.
Everton, for their part, also fell short in their last game, being dumped out of the FA Cup by Sunderland. A far more pressing concerning for the Toffees though is the fact that they’ve won just one of their last six Premier League games in all, despite facing some of the weakest teams in the league, Wolves and Burnley, across that stretch.
A major red flag for Everton here is that despite owning the second-best defensive record away from home this season, and the outright best since September 1st also, their defensive xGA doesn’t match this, barely ranking inside the top-half of the league.
In fact, since December 1st, while Everton have only allowed 2 goals away from home, they’ve actually given up 6.28 xGA, good for only 10th in the table overall, and the Toffees will very likely be hit with some serious regression heading into the back-half of the season.
That could well start here on Sunday against an Aston Villa side who know how to score at home (1.80 GF/G).
Premier League Prediction: 1H Over 1 (-114)
