Expert NBA Player Props for Friday: Tre Jones Chicago Bulls OVER 6.5 Assists (-110)

Josh Giddey remains out due to a hamstring injury and Tre Jones has covered this line in 6/10 games without him on the court (five 3 times) while averaging 15.3 potential assists per game and seeing a 75% increase in AST%.

Those numbers are much more impressive when you realize that 7 of those 10 games were against teams that rank above average in assists allowed and 4 of those games were against top 10 teams.

The Brooklyn Nets have struggled to contain pick-&-roll ballhandlers all season long and they rank 26th in assists allowed to opposing point guards with 9.5 per game.

We have seen plenty of P&R ballhandlers thrive against the Bulls recently including Jamal Murray (16), Cam Spencer (13), Kevin Durant (11) and Ryan Nembhard (8).

Those players converted 80% of their potential assists so if Jones follows that pattern, he will only need 9 or 10 potential assists to eclipse this number.

The spread is set at -1.5 so Jones should see close to his season average of 28 minutes per game with Giddey on the sidelines.

Expert NBA Player Props for Friday: TJ McConnell Indiana Pacers OVER 7.5 Rebounds + Assists (-128)

TJ McConnell has covered this RA line in 9 of his last 14 games (64%) while averaging 7.8 RA per game and he’s cleared this number in 8 of his last 13 games with Andrew Nembhard on the court.

That includes a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on December 20th where McConnell finished with 12 RA on 16 potential RA despite playing just shy of 18 minutes.

That’s around the season average for McConnell minutes but it’s very encouraging that he’s coming off 21 minutes against the Toronto Raptors.

The Pelicans rank 24th in RA allowed to opposing point guards with 15.9 per game. These teams rank 9th and 14th in pace of play and that reflected in the total being set at 239.5.

This should be an environment where McConnell should thrive as he’s a scrappy player who loves to push tempo and he should see full minutes in game with Bennedict Mathurin on the shelf and a spread set at -3.5.
