This is a great bounce back spot for Donovan Mitchell after falling well short of this line in back-to-back road games (20 & 15) as he’s been a different player at home where he scored 30 & 32 points in the first two games of this series.
Mitchell’s playoff dominance at home dates back to a few seasons back as he’s scored 27+ points in 11 of his last 12 games.
The volume has been insane for Mitchell during this series as he’s taken 24, 16, 23 & 20 field goal attempts and 12, 7, 10 & 7 three-point attempts in the first four games of the series.
This series is tied 2-2 and they Cavaliers are going to lean heavily on their superstar at home as they don’t want to face elimination north of the border later in the week.
NBA Props Picks for Wednesday: Amen Thompson Houston Rockets OVER 32.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-105)
Kevin Durant has already been ruled out for Game 5 due to an ankle injury and Amen Thompson has averaged 35 PRA per game with him on the sidelines compared to only 31.5 PRA per game with Durant active.
Thompson should fully expect a ton of usage as he’s played 40+ minutes in every game of this series, and he’s covered this line in each of the last two games (34 & 41) while averaging 34 PRA per game on the series.
The Los Angeles Lakers 20th in defending the paint and Thompson takes 84% of his shots within 10 feet of the basket and he scores 21% of his points on cuts where LA ranks dead last.
The books currently have Thompson’s field goal attempts line set at 15.5 and when he’s seen that volume while playing 35+ minutes he’s cleared this number in 81% of his games.
The Rockets are facing elimination and Thompson has carved out an important role on this team in the postseason.
