The Memphis Grizzlies held serve in Game 5, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 116-99 in Memphis to cut the Lakers series edge to 3-2.
The series shifts back to Los Angeles for Game 6 where the Lakers will once again look to advance. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:30 PM EST/7:30 PST on Friday night from Crypto.com Arena.
Grizzlies Survive
The Memphis Grizzlies survived a must-win situation on Wednesday night as they beat the Los Angeles Lakers 116-99. Desmond Bane led all scorers with 33 points and 10 rebounds while Ja Morant was right behind him with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists.
It was the first time in Memphis Grizzlies history a pair of teammates recorded 30+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists. Jaren Jackson Jr also posted an 18 point, 10 rebound double-double. The Grizzlies shot 14 of 40 from beyond the arc as a team.
This will be the Grizzlies third shot at winning a playoff game in LA after losing 111-101 in Game 3 and 117-111 in overtime in Game 4. Desmond Bane promised the Memphis faithful that they would return home for a decisive Game 7.
Lakers Look To Wrap It Up In Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Lakers failed to generate 100 points in a 17 point loss in Memphis on Wednesday night. Anthony Davis led his team in scoring and was the games top rebounder with an impressive 31 point, 19 rebound double-double.
LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell also both posted triple-doubles as James had 15 points and 10 rebounds while Russell chipped in with 11 points and 10 assists. The Lakers were outscored 56-48 in the paint despite ADs 19 rebound performance.

The Los Angeles Lakers enter this contest as 4.5 point home favorites with a total set at 220. The Grizzlies had the second best record in the Western Conference while it took a late run for the Lakers to even make the play-in tournament.
However the narrative has made it feel as though the Lakers are favored. Recently acquired D’Angelo Russell has been the straw that stirs the drink with assist totals of 10, 3, 7, 4 & 7.
