Lakers vs Raptors Analysis
The Toronto Raptors travel to Los Angeles for a cross-conference showdown with the Raptors. I would say the Lakers were embarrassed in last night’s 140-111 loss in Phoenix, but it seems like they are getting used to it at this point.
Meanwhile the Raptors won their third straight game 127-115 in Denver against the Nuggets on Saturday night. These teams only meet twice a year and ironically their second matchup will be this coming Friday night.
Raptors Seek Fourth-Straight Victory
The Toronto Raptors improved to 37-30 with an impressive victory over the Denver Nuggets. Pascal Siakim led the team with 33 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Chris Boucher and Scottie Barnes each had a double-double with 21 points & 13 rebounds and 25 points and 10 assists respectively.
Toronto is now 3-1 on their current six game West Coast road trip that will conclude Wednesday night against the Clippers. Fred VanVleet is questionable with a knee injury for tonight’s contest, while the Raptors continue to play without Malachi Flynn and OG Anunoby.
The Raptors have the 19th ranked offense that scores 108.8 points a game, while their defense ranks ninth in the league as they allow 107.4 points to their opponents.
Lakers Unraveling
The Los Angeles Lakers now stand at 29-38 after getting beat wire-to-wire in dominant fashion by the Phoenix Suns. Los Angeles continues to implode, losing 14 of their last 19 games.
LeBron James was sure to get his 31 points and stay neck-and-neck with Joel Embiid for the season scoring title. James also recorded his 10,000th assist to become the only player with 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10,000 assists. Carmelo Anthony scored 18 points while going 4 of 7 from three-point land.
The Laker defense is non-existent as they allow 113 points a game to rank 26th in the league. They rank 12th in scoring with just over 111 points per game.
Anthony Davis remains out with a foot injury, while no other players are listed on the injury report. However they are playing the second game of a back-to-back.
Lakers vs Raptors Prediction
These teams are heading in completely opposite directions and the Raptors now have a guaranteed playoff spot in their sites. Recently the Raps have beaten Phoenix and Denver on the road, so the Lakers will be an easier test.
The Raptors have shined on the road all season with a 20-15 straight up record, while going 21-13-1 against the spread. The Lakers are also only 2-6 on the second game of a back-to-back.
The Lakers looked lifeless last night in Phoenix and I don’t see how they are going to slow down the Raptors offense. It seems like an easy play on the Raptors laying five points in this one.
