Lakers vs Clippers Analysis
The ‘Battle of LA’ returns for the third time this season with the Clippers and Lakers both looking to put together solid runs over the back half of the season after a disappointing first half, and get a firm foothold in the Western Conference playoff picture respectively.
The Clippers enter Friday night’s game coming off three wins from their last four prior to the All-Star Break, while the Lakers conversely have lost three of their last four games, rallying back to beat Utah last Wednesday night at this same venue.
The Clippers have taken both meetings this season but only by the slimmest of margins, winning by just 2.5 ppg on average over the two contests and covering only one of them.
Clippers Adapt to Life Without Their Big Two
It’s been a rocky season so far for the Clippers who have really failed to get any traction this year out of their two superstars Paul George and Kawhi Leonard this season.
However, with the Clippers making some much needed trades to help boost this roster, the rest of this Clippers team have really started to click, with Marcus Morris, Ivica Zubac, Terance Mann and Reggie Jackson all combining really well over recent starts and averaging the league’s fourth-best defensive and sixth-best offensive efficiency ratings over their last three starts as well.
Lakers Continue to Struggle
Contrary to what the Clippers were able to do before the trade deadline, the Lakers made no such moves, and with injuries continuing to mount up with Kendrick Nunn out, Anthony Davis out, Avery Bradley out and so on, it’s put added strain on those players still in the lineup.
LeBron James has led the Lakers in points, rebounds and assists in each of his last three starts, but it hasn’t been enough as bar a huge rally against Utah last time out, the Lakers have lost by an average of 6.3 ppg across their last three losses.

We’re looking towards taking the Clippers’ Reggie Jackson under 18.5 points tonight, which is available at DraftKings.
Jackson has been red-hot over his last stretch of games, eclipsing that 18.5 mark in two of his last four games in all, but comes into this one off an extended break and only averaging 16.6 ppg this season, with a 2.3 three-point field goal average as well.
That sets up well against a Lakers team tonight who rank top-ten in the league on opponent three-point scoring over their last three starts.
With the Clippers hitting 50% from both the floor and three point range in their win last time out against the Houston Rockets, expect a drop-off tonight in shooting for the Clippers and for Reggie Jackson to come in under this total as well here on Friday.
