Clippers vs Lakers Analysis
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers face off in the Battle of LA for the second time this season after the Clippers drew first blood with a 119-115 win back on December 3rd.
No Stars in LA
Both the Lakers and Clippers enter Thursday night’s game short of a few of their major stars. LeBron James will be out with a left knee injury for the Lakers while both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George will be missing for the Clippers ahead of this one.
The Clippers will look to rebound returning home here after dropping two of their last three on the road to the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers respectively.
Davis Leading Lakers
One star definitely in attendance tonight however will be Anthony Davis who has hung an average of 29.3 ppg and 10.7 rebounds over his last three starts.
Without LeBron in the lineup, Anthony Davis will no doubt shoulder a lot of the responsibility tonight and his defensive rebound production especially should prove problematic for an LA Clippers team who have given up the 25th most defensive rebounds per game to opponents this season.
Clippers vs Lakers Prediction
Both teams have struggled offensively this season inside Crypto.com Arena and we expect another lower scoring game here on Thursday night as well.
The Clippers’ three-point percentage has dipped at home this year as opposed to on the road and their offensive efficiency is lower also.
The Lakers meanwhile have played better defense at home this season, as have the Clippers, and have allowed less points in the paint as well.
With the Clippers averaging the 7th best defensive efficiency rating in the league this season, and the Lakers averaging the best rating overall against Portland last time out, we expect a similar lower scoring game here on Thursday night and recommend a play on the under in Thursday night’s Clippers vs Lakers contest.

The Clippers have dominated this series for a few seasons, going 6-2 straight-up and 7-1 against the number, and current form would indicate a continuance of that trend.
Struggling Lakers huffed and puffed but managed to beat Portland last night to snap their three-game losing streak (and 4-8 last 12). Anthony Davis had 30 and helped key an Lakers’ defense that caught CJ McCollum on an off shooting night (5-of-17), part of which was due to the presence of Avery Bradley.
Lake Show is obviously still struggling (scored only one total point off 12 Blazer turnovers yesterday) and LA is 2-4 vs. the points this season when unrested, while the rested Clippers have covered seven of their last nine games and rank 10th in net rating (9th offensively), while the Lakers are at 26th in net, 25th offensively and 21st on defense.
