Boston Celtics vs Los Angeles Clippers Betting Analysis
The Los Angeles Clippers travel east for an inter conference clash with the Boston Celtics on Thursday evening. The Celtics look for a fourth straight victory after crushing the Houston Rockets 126-102 at home on Tuesday.
The Clippers won their third straight game 124-113 in Toronto against the Raptors. This will be the second time these teams have matched up this season, as the Clippers prevailed in the first meeting 113-93. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST from TD Garden in Boston.
Clippers On The Rise
The Los Angeles Clippers currently sit at 4th place in the Western Conference with a 21-15 record after winning their 7th game in their last nine tries in Toronto on Tuesday.
They owned the block as they outscored the Raptors 68-52 in the paint. Paul George led the team with 23 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Ivica Zubac had a 23 point, 16 rebound double-double while Norman Powell added 22 points off the bench.
The Clippers are one of the lowest scoring teams in the league as they are 29th with only 109.2 points a game. They sit at 9th in the NBA with 44.4 rebounds per game.
Defense is their calling card as they rank 3rd with only 108.6 points allowed per game. Los Angeles sports a clean injury report, a breath of fresh air nowadays.
Celtics Are Elite
The Boston Celtics will be looking to finish their seven game home stand with a winning record after splitting the first six games. They did improve to 25-10 on the season after winning their third straight game over the Rockets.
The Celtics had a tremendous shooting advantage as they went 43-91 for 47.3% compared to Houston who went 38-95 for only 40%. Jaylen Brown led all scorers with 39 points on 14-26 from the field.
Jayson Tatum was right behind him with 38 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Boston is the top scoring team in the league with an average of 118.9 points per game. The Celtics defense hasn’t lived up to last seasons expectations as they rank 12th in scoring with 112.1 points allowed per game.
They are snatching 43.7 rebounds per game, which is 11th most in the NBA. The Celtics also have a clean injury report, this may be the first time season both sides are basically injury-free.
Boston Celtics vs Los Angeles Clippers Prop Prediction
The Boston Celtics are favored by 6.5 points with a total set at 228. This game features two full-strength teams that could easily meet in the NBA Finals this season.
This has the makings of a playoff atmosphere where both sides ratchet up their defensive efforts. The Clippers are one of the best defensive teams in the entire league and rank 21st in pace of play.
The Celtics were the top defensive team in the league last season and have relied on scoring this season. However they know defense is the key and their anchor Robert Williams III is working his way back into shape after knee surgery.
The results have been there, as 8 of their last 12 games have gone under the total. The Clippers team total is 110.5 and I’m going under in what should be a hard fought battle.
