Boston Celtics vs Golden State Warriors Betting Analysis
The Golden State Warriors continue an East Coast road trip in Boston against the Celtics on Thursday night from the TD Garden.
The Celtics won their 7th straight game 130-118 on the road against the Charlotte Hornets on MLK Day. The Warriors are coming off a 127-118 victory in Washington against the Wizards on Monday.
This will be the second and final regular season meeting between these teams, Golden State prevailed 123-107 at home against Boston on December 10th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST/4:30 PST as the first game of a TNT Thursday night doubleheader.
Road Warriors?
The Golden State Warriors got back to .500 at 22-22 after beating Washington on Monday. The Warriors had a 43-36 rebounding advantage. Steph Curry led all scorers with 41 points on 12-28 from the field.
Jordan Poole had a big scoring game with 32 points while Draymond Green recorded a 17 point, 10 assists double-double along with 6 rebounds. The Warriors are only 5-17 on the road this season and they have the opposite record at home.
However they have won two of their last three away from home. Golden State ranks 4th in scoring with 117.5 points per game on 47.3% from the floor.
They sit at 18th in defensive rating and 26th in scoring with 117.9 points allowed per game. Andre Iguodala, James Wiseman, JaMychal Green and Johnathan Kuminga have all already been ruled out for this contest.
Seven Game Streak For Celtics
The Boston Celtics have the NBAs best record at 33-12 after winning their 7th straight game on Monday in Charlotte.
Boston had tremendous advantages across the board including from beyond the arc where they went 20-43 for 46.5% compared to the Hornets 13-31 for 41.9%. Jayson Tatum led all scorers with an impressive 51 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
Derrick White added 19 points and 8 assists while Malcolm Brogdon scored 16 off the bench. The Celts currently rank 2nd in scoring with 118.8 points per game on 47.8% from the field.
They are improving defensively where they now sit at 6th in rating and 11th in scoring with 112.3 points allowed per game.
The scary part is Boston hasn’t fully gelled yet as Robert Williams III is still working into the rotation. Jaylen Brown is the only player listed on the C’s injury report and he is questionable with a groin strain.
Boston Celtics vs Golden State Warriors Player Prop Prediction
The Boston Celtics are 6.5 point home favorites with a total set at 240.5. We have an NBA Finals rematch as the Warriors and Celtics lock horns for the second time this season.
I’m fully expecting the Celtics to play it safe with Jaylen Brown and let him have at least another night to nurse his injury. This has me looking at Marcus Smart and his Points + Rebounds + Assists over 22.5.
Smart has cleared this total in 4 of 5 games this season without Brown on the court for 20, 27, 32, 39 & 30 PRA. The Celtics are going to need Smart on the court for defensive purposes against Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
Smart recorded 22 PRA against Golden State on December 10th in a game where Jaylen Brown scored 31 points and recorded 43 PRA.
The Warriors have struggled defensively and they allow the 6th most points to opposing point guards. This seems like a low number that Smart could hit even if Jaylen Brown plays.
