BKFC 89 Predictions

Jomi Escoboza -230 vs Cody Vidal +184

Vidal is coming off a win, but it was one of those fights where both guys looked defensively awful and he simply survived longer. He absorbs way too much damage, doesn’t move  particularly well, and relies heavily on standing in front of opponents and trading.

Escoboza should have a huge advantage here physically. He’s five inches taller, owns a major  reach edge, and should be able to land jabs and straight shots consistently at range while Vidal  marches forward eating punches.

Escoboza doesn’t throw massive volume, but his shots are accurate and carry power. Vidal’s tendency to absorb clean damage feels like a massive problem in this matchup. He could get  busted up early and lose confidence quickly. Escoboza looks like one of the easier sides on the card.

Levi Costa -126 vs Chase Gormely +104

I think there’s a real chance Costa looks excellent here because the speed difference should be massive. Gormely is extremely slow and stiff at this stage of his career. He comes from MMA,  but his last MMA fight was back in 2018, and the mileage plus inactivity really shows.

He beat a complete nobody in his BKFC debut after years away, then got flattened in 44 seconds  by Parker Porter in his next fight. At 42 years old, there just doesn’t seem to be much left  physically.

Costa got nuked by Perdomo in his last BKFC fight, but Perdomo has basically done that to everybody in BKFC. Costa at least showed some offense before getting stopped, and stylistically  this is a far more manageable matchup. Costa is younger, faster, and probably hits harder here. At this price, the value is solid.

Iman Williams -220 vs Cody Kerr +178

I just don’t think Kerr is on this level. Williams looks like the far more complete and athletic fighter to me. He started his BKFC run at heavyweight, but after dropping down to around 206  pounds in his last fight, he looked much sharper physically.

The speed, movement, and composure were all noticeably improved. He fights under control,  carries legitimate power, and looks comfortable in exchanges.

Kerr won his lone BKFC fight, but it came against someone who honestly had no business being  in there. This is a major step up in competition and skill level. Williams should be the better  athlete, better mover, and cleaner striker throughout. Williams should cruise here if he fights disciplined.

BKFC 89 Main Event: Jamel Herring -220 vs Michale Larrimore +178

I’ll take a shot with the dog in the main event. Larrimore is chaos in the best possible way. He’s insanely fast, almost too fast at times, flying in and out of the pocket with very little control, but  the speed is real and he throws everything with bad intentions.

Herring is the more measured and experienced fighter. He likes to settle in, pick his spots, and  fight the long game, but that style can be dangerous early against someone like Larrimore. All  four of Larrimore’s BKFC fights have ended in the first round, and he’s dangerous immediately.

Herring has only had one BKFC fight, with the rest of his career coming in traditional boxing where fights often slow down and go to decision. Larrimore is going to come out firing hard from  the opening bell, and at plus money he’s worth a sprinkle to land something big early.
