Toronto Blue Jays vs Baltimore Orioles Analysis

The Baltimore Orioles travel north of the border to begin a four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays from the Rogers Centre on Monday night.

The Blue Jays crushed the Detroit Tigers in two of three in their weekend series and finished their six-game road trip 4-2. The Orioles ended up with a split in a four game series in Kansas City against the Royals.

Toronto will send dominant righty Alek Manoah to the mound to be opposed by a young righty who hasn’t had as much success in Kyle Bradish. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 PM EST/4:07 PST.

Blue Jays Bats Clicking

The Toronto Blue Jays won the rubber match of a three game series against the Detroit Tigers 6-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Starter Ross Stripling threw a spotless six shutout innings while allowing only one hit and no walks. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2 for 5 with a two run bomb and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI.

The Blue Jays has been as good as advertised as they rank 5th in both OPS and batting average. The Blue Jays currently sit at 2nd place in the American League East with a 35-24 record, 8.5 games behind the New York Yankees.

Alek Manoah has had an incredible start to the season, the towering righty is 7-1 with a 1.81 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. He has thrown quality starts in 10 of his 11 starts this season, with a 5 inning two run performance in the only game he fell short.

Orioles Better Than Expected

The Baltimore Orioles have been under the .500 mark for the entire season, but they have been playing decent baseball by their standards.

They are 6-6 in their last 12 games and they are coming off a pair of wins against to split a four game series against the Baltimore Orioles. The O’s scored 16 runs in the final two games including yesterday’s 10-7 victory.

Dean Kremer tossed five innings and allowed two runs, while leadoff man Cedric Mullins went 4 for 6 with two RBI. Designated hitter Ryan Mountcastle went 2 for 5 with a homerun and double.

They still rank 25th with a lowly .232 batting average. They are also 18.5 games behind the New York Yankees for first place in American League East, however they are currently only six games back of the second A.L. Wild Card spot.

Rookie righty Kyle Bradish gets the nod for Baltimore after allowing two earned runs in only 4.2 innings in his last outing against the Chicago Cubs.

He also allowed two homeruns and five walks, giving him a total of 10 homeruns and 16 walks across 37.2 innings pitched. He has had a rough go on the season with a 1-3 record, 6.45 ERA and 1.59 WHIP.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction

The Toronto Blue Jays are ridiculous -300 favorites on the money line, while the Baltimore Orioles are +235 with a total of 8.5.

This line obviously reflects a colossal mismatch with Toronto having the better lineup and pitching hands down. Manoah has been just as good as anyone in the game and Bradish giving up so many bombs doesn’t bode well against a potent Jays lineup.

The Jays lineup is also obviously far superior to that of the Orioles. This juice is through the roof in this one and even the run line is -140, so I found what should be a more profitable route.

We can get Alek Manoah to record the win at -115 and odds are if the Jays win it will be him securing it. Manoah has thrown 6+ innings in 10 of his 11 starts, he has recorded a win in 7 of his 11 starts including his last three outings.

Look for the Jays bats to jump ugly on Bradish early and often, forcing an early exit and hanging the O’s bullpen out to dry. This should set Manoah up to secure an easy victory.

Prediction: Alek Manoah to Record a Win, Yes -115
