Hitter Prop Prediction 1: Willy Adames

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames finished the 2023 campaign with a .217 batting average, 24 home runs and 80 RBI across 630 plate appearances.

Adames did go three for four with a double in his first postseason game last night but has still fallen short of 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in 7 of his last 11 games.

National League Cy Young candidate and Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen had a 17-9 record, 3.47 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 220 strikeouts across 210 innings of work during the regular season.

Gallen absolutely dominated the Brewers in two starts this season, holding them to a lone run on six hits across a combined 14 innings pitched.

Current Milwaukee sluggers are batting a combined 12-70 (.171) with no home runs or even an RBI. Adames played a big role in that as he is a 0-11 (.000) with two strikeouts and no walks.

Adames also bats 6th in the order and he’s playing at home which could cost him an at-bat. Regardless, Adames has had zero success against Gallen and I’m fully expecting that to continue tonight.

The Prop Pick: Willy Adames UNDER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-105)

Hitter Prop Prediction 2: Jon Berti OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+120)

Miami Marlins shortstop Jon Beri hit .296 with a 7 home runs, 33 RBI, 53 runs scored and 16 stolen bases across 420 plate appearances.

Berti finished September on fire with a .412 batting average, four home runs and 8 RBI across 64 plate appearances. He has also recorded 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in 8 of his last 11 games despite falling short last night against a pitcher he has struggled against in Zack Wheeler.

That hasn’t been the case against tonight’s starter Aaron Nola who Berti is 4-13 (.308) against with a home run and a double. Nola finished the 2023 regular season with a 12-9 record, 4.46 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 202 strikeouts across 193.2 innings of work.

However, Nola struggled in his three outings against the Miami Marlins where he went 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA across 16 innings pitched.

We will chalk last night’s 0-3 three strikeout performance to first game jitters. That and Berti is now only 3-18 (.167) against Wheeler with 8 strikeouts. Look for Berti to bust out tonight in a more favorable matchup.
