Hitter Prop Prediction 1: Jake Burger

Miami Marlins third baseman Jake Burger finished the 2023 regular season with a .250 batting average, 34 home runs and 80 RBI across 536 plate appearances.

Burger caught fire after joining the Marlins at the deadline, hitting .303 (60-198) with 9 home runs and 28 RBI across 215 plate appearances.

However, he is only 1-6 (.167) with two strikeouts against Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler. Wheeler ended the campaign with a 13-6 record, 3.61 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 212 strikeouts across 192 innings of work.

More importantly, Wheeler dominated the Marlins this season, holding them to only 6 runs while scattering 15 hits across 18 innings in his three outings against them.

Burger was 50/50 to this total in his last ten regular season games but he has yet to compete in the postseason.

Wheeler on the other hand, just pitched in the 2022 World Series that slipped through the Phillies fingers.

Great pitching seems to win out in the MLB playoffs and Burger is a free swinger that Wheeler has dominated. We also get +135 odds on a prop that was 50/50 over the last ten games.

Hitter Prop Prediction 2: Corbin Carroll OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-105)

Odds on favorite for National League Rookie of the Year and Arizona Diamondbacks left fielder Corbin Carroll finished the 2023 campaign with a .285 batting average, 25 home runs, 76 RBI, 116 runs scored and 54 stolen bases across 625 plate appearances.

Carroll finished a strong September with a .311 batting average, two home runs, 11 RBI, 20 runs scored and 13 stolen bases across 125 plate appearances.

He managed to record 2+ Hits + Runs + RBI in 19 of his last 30 games for a 63% success rate. Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burnes had a 10-8 record, 3.39 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 200 strikeouts across 193.2 innings of work.

Burnes has held Carroll to 1-9 (.111) with one RBI and three strikeouts in their head-to-head meetings. However, Burnes was hammered for 7 runs on 8 hits across only five innings in his last outing against the Diamondbacks at home on June 19th.

Burnes has also maxed out at 5.2 in his last three outings, which will give Carroll opportunities against the bullpen as the Arizona leadoff man.

I’m going to count on Carroll being locked in for his first postseason game and I will side with him in the “Battle of Corbin’s” despite his batter vs pitcher history against Burnes.
