We whiffed on Marcus Semien to hit a home run earlier this season, but today presents another ample opportunity for the Rangers second baseman as they wrap up their four-game series against the Athletics.

Lefty Jeffery Springs takes the mound for the Athletics in which Semien is 6-13 with three home runs against with Springs allowing one home run across his last five starts each.

Semien hasn’t been great on offense this season, but he is riding a five-game hitting streak into this one and is batting .231 against lefties this season compared to a .167 average against righties.

Texas hasn’t played many day games yet this season, but last season Semien had a home run once every 20 at bats during day games compared to just one every 35 at bats in night games.

All five of Springs’ home runs given up have been to right handed bats this season while allowing a .521 slugging percentage to righties as well.

It’s also worth noting that Springs has a 10.32 ERA in day games this season while allowing three home runs in 11.1 innings pitched compared to a 3.18 ERA and two home runs allowed in 17 innings pitched during night games.

Take Semien to hit a home run today at +600 with other Rangers batters to consider for a home run include Kyle Higashioka (+400) and Adolis Garcia (+470).

The Tigers continue their west coast trip in Anaheim taking on the Angels tonight who send lefty Yusei Kikuchi to the mound who although hasn’t allowed a home run in his last three starts, has allowed four in total on the season, all to righties.

Insert Spencer Torkelson who is 2-2 with a home run off Kikuchi all-time and sports a .639 slugging percentage against lefties this season compared to a .486 slugging percentage against righties.

Of his eight home runs, four have come against lefties in 36 at bats with the other four coming against righties in 72 at bats.

Kikuchi allows a .282 batting average and .447 slugging percentage to righties on the season compared to a .167 average and .167 slugging percentage against lefties.

The Tigers first baseman is no stranger to hitting home runs, blasting 31 of them in 2023 and is just two shy of last season’s total of just 10 he had in 92 games.

Look for Torkelson to get his power going again tonight hitting a home run at +390 odds with other Tigers batters to consider for a home run include Gleyber Torres (+630) and Andy Ibanez (+470).
