MLB Home Run Prop Best Bet of the Day #1: Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHC) +350
Pete Crow-Armstrong continues his campaign for the NL MVP Award as the Cubs head from Seattle to Arizona to take on the Diamondbacks tonight.
PCA went 2-4 with a home run in yesterday’s 19-2 win at Seattle as we’ll look for him to cash his home run prop tonight. Merrill Kelly gets the home start for Arizona tonight and he has been mediocre to say the least this season in general and as of late pitching 19.2 innings across his last four starts allowing 18 earned runs including four home runs.
Kelly has allowed 14 of his 26 home runs at home in 53.1 innings pitched with the other 12 coming on the road in 75.2 innings pitched.
He has also allowed 18 of his 26 home runs to left handed hitters like Crow-Armstrong which includes a .532 slugging percentage compared to a .440 slugging percentage allowed against righties.
Sure, Crow-Armstrong has been a better hitter at home this season in general but he has been a monster as of late now matter where he plays hitting .375 and slugging 1.083 across the last seven days including five home runs.
The Cubs are in firm position of the first NL Wildcard spot so let’s ride Crow-Armstrong’s hot bat and take him to hit his home run prop at +350. Other Cubs to consider taking a home run prop for are Michael Conforto (+470) and Michael Busch (+540).
MLB Home Run Prop Best Bet of the Day #2: Royce Lewis (MIN) +310
It was a forgetful series over the weekend for the Twins who dropped three straight to the Padres in San Diego as they make the short trip to Sacramento to take on the Athletics.
Lefty Jeffrey Springs gets the home start and he has been giving up home runs at an alarming rate this season with 17 of his 29 allowed at home while sporting a 6.63 home ERA as well.
We’ll take Twins first baseman Royce Lewis to hit his home run prop tonight and while we know he’s been struggling hitting as of late we think this is a matchup to exploit.
Lewis is 2-6 against Springs all time while this season sporting a .440 slugging percentage on the road compared to a .373 slugging percentage in home games.
Lewis is just 2-22 in his last seven games but over the last 30 days he’s batting .290 and slugging .480. Of the 29 home runs Springs has given up this season, 21 have come against right handed batters while allowing a .520 slugging percentage to them this season as well.
Springs went up against this same Twins team a month ago and lasted just 1.1 innings while allowing four earned runs although none were home runs. Take Lewis to hit his home run prop at +320 with other Twins to look at for a home run prop includes Ryan Jeffers (+370) and Kody Clemens (+440).
