Valspar Championship Course: Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club (Copperhead Course)
The Valspar Championship is played at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort, one of the most underrated and challenging layouts on the PGA Tour.
Unlike typical Florida courses, Copperhead features tree-lined fairways, elevation changes, and tight landing areas, making it more of a strategic, shot-maker’s test than a bomber’s paradise. The course plays as a par-71 around 7,300 yards, with long par-4s and limited scoring opportunities.
Accuracy off the tee is critical, as missing the fairway brings thick rough and difficult angles into play. This is widely considered a second-shot golf course, where approach play and positioning matter more than distance.
The greens are well-protected and require precise iron shots, while scrambling becomes essential when greens are missed.
The closing stretch, known as the “Snake Pit” (holes 16–18), is one of the toughest finishes on Tour and often decides the tournament.
With limited easy holes and very few chances to go low, this is typically a grind where patience and consistency win out.
Expect a winning score in the low double-digits under par, with players needing a complete all-around game to contend.
Valspar Championship: Players That Can Trip You Up
Patrick Cantlay
Cantlay comes in with a big name and a high price tag, but the form just hasn’t been there. He’s finished outside the Top 30 in his last three events and hasn’t played this course since 2017.
Over the last 30 days, he ranks just 20th in the field in total strokes gained, yet he’s still priced like a top-tier contender. At that number, you’re paying for past reputation more than current form.
Ben Griffin
Griffin’s season is trending in the wrong direction. He’s coming off two straight missed cuts, and the underlying stats are even more concerning.
His driving has been off and his iron play hasn’t been sharp, which is a dangerous combination on a course that demands accuracy off the tee and precision into the greens. Until those areas improve, he’s tough to trust.
Austin Smotherman
Smotherman has shown flashes this season, but the inconsistency is hard to ignore. He’s recorded three Top-13 finishes, but also has three missed cuts and a withdrawal, making him very much a boom-or-bust option.
His putting and short game have been weak, which is a major red flag on a course where scrambling is key. Too volatile to rely on this week.
Valspar Championship: DraftKings Darlings
Zach Bauchou ($6,700) has quietly been one of the steadiest players in this price range. He’s made every cut this season and is gaining +0.35 strokes on approach, with solid numbers across the board outside of driving accuracy.
The upside may be limited, but in a weak field, getting four rounds is extremely valuable. He’s a high-floor option who should be around for the weekend.
John Parry ($7,300) just keeps delivering. He’s made all six cuts this season and is coming off an 8th-place finish in his last start.
There aren’t any glaring weaknesses in his game—everything is steady across the board, and while the putting could improve slightly, it hasn’t held him back. He’s one of the most reliable DFS plays in this range again this week.
Ryo Hisatsune ($8,600) brings both form and upside to the table. He ranks 6th in total strokes gained in this field and already has four Top 13 finishes this season.
He also finished 4th here last year, showing clear comfort with the course. With strong all-around play and proven results, Hisatsune is a high-ceiling option worth paying up for.
Rest of Lineup: Sahith Theegala, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas
