College Basketball Props Prediction 1: Max Abmas, Longhorns OVER 17.5 Points (-105) DK

Ohio State Buckeyes guard Bruce Thornton is averaging 15.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game for average of 23.2 Points + Rebounds + Assists thus far in the 2023-24 campaign.

Thornton has recorded 22+ PRA in 12 of 21 games on the season for a 57% success rate to the over including 3 of his last 5 games.

This is pace up spot for an Ohio State team that typically plays at a slower pace against an Iowa Hawkeyes team that ranks 14th in the nation in pace of play.

Thornton posted a 24 PRA effort in his last game against Iowa in March of last year. The Hawkeye’s defense has also been vulnerable as they rank only 296th in points allowed with 77.2 per game.

Thornton has played 31+ minutes in each of his last nine games and he should see full minutes tonight as Iowa is only favored by 5.5 points. Look for Thornton to eclipse this mark on the road as he has 7 of 8 games on the season.

Houston Cougars guard LJ Cryer shoots 38.5% from three-point land while recording 3+ threes in 14 of 25 games for a 56% success rate on the season.

Cryer is coming off an impressive game where he scored 26 points while shooting 6 for 9 from beyond the arc against the Texas Longhorns.

However, he has still fallen short of this mark in 9 of his last 15 games. The senior also enjoyed plenty of wide-open looks against Texas and those won’t be there against the Iowa State Cyclones who are the 3rd-best defensive team in the country.

They hold opponents to 33.6% from downtown on the season and they have been even better during their four-game winning streak at 32%.

This sets up as what could be the defensive matchup of the season as these squads rank #1 and #3 in the nation and the total sits at only 128.5.

Look for the Cyclones to harass Cryer on the perimeter and hold him under 2.5 three-pointers made tonight in Houston.
