It’s been a down year for the veteran second baseman Jose Altuve, but he is riding a 5-game hitting streak where he’s cleared this line in each of his last two games while going 5-8 (.625) with a home run in the process.

Now Altuve gets another opportunity to feast on Logan Gilbert who he’s gone 15-40 (.375) against with 2 home runs, 7 doubles and 3 free passes.

Gilbert has been surprisingly worse at home in 2026 where he’s posted a 4.41 ERA compared to a 2.72 ERA when pitching on the highway.

The Mariners starting pitcher will be backed by a bullpen in horrible form as they rank 29th in both ERA (.577) and WHIP (1.52) during the last 30 days. Altuve hasn’t been as good on the road, but he will be motivated to continue his hot streak with Houston fighting for a playoff spot.
