Tour Championship Course: Why East Lake Golf Club Matters for Bettors
The 2026 TOUR Championship returns to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, where the top 30 players remaining in the FedEx Cup Playoffs battle for the season-ending title. East Lake will play as a 7,440-yard par 70, and the course is much different than the version players became familiar with before its major restoration.
The changes have made East Lake more strategic, with more movement in the fairways, deeper and more creative bunkering, and much more challenging green complexes.
The biggest challenge at East Lake is now the approach shots into the greens. Many putting surfaces have different levels, slopes, and small sections where pins can be tucked, making distance control extremely important.
Miss in the wrong spot and the closely mown run-off areas can carry the ball well away from the green, leaving difficult chips and pitches. The Zoysia fairways generally provide excellent lies, but finding the correct side of the fairway gives players a much better angle into these complicated greens.
There are still plenty of scoring opportunities, including risk-reward holes where aggressive players can make birdies, but East Lake now does a much better job punishing mistakes.
The course rewards elite iron play, smart positioning off the tee, and creativity around the greens rather than simply favoring the longest hitters.
With only 30 of the best players on Tour in the field and everyone starting at even par, there is nowhere to hide this week. Expect East Lake to provide a strong all-around test where the player who controls his approaches and avoids mistakes around the greens has the best chance to become the 2026 FedEx Cup champion.

Tour Championship: Best DraftKings DFS Picks for The Open
Alex Smalley ($6,300) continues to be one of our favorite value plays, and somehow the price keeps dropping. He’s finished 16th, 24th, and 7th over the last three weeks and ranks 8th in this field in total strokes gained over the last 30 days.
That’s an outstanding statistical profile for someone sitting near the bottom of the salary board. At $6,300, we don’t need him to contend— we just need his recent form to continue, and anything more is a huge bonus.
Adam Scott ($6,500) is another veteran playing his best golf at exactly the right time. He’s coming off finishes of 12th and 16th over the last two weeks and ranks 10th in this field in total strokes gained over the last 30 days.
He didn’t play here last year, but when he last saw this course in 2024, he finished 5th. Recent form plus proven success on the course makes Scott extremely appealing at this price.
Gary Woodland ($6,600) is playing fantastic golf heading into the final tournament of the season. He finished 4th last week and ranks 7th in the field in total strokes gained over the last 30 days, with his driving once again becoming a major weapon.
And there’s a little good karma involved here too. After everything Woodland has gone through with brain surgery and his remarkable recovery, having him in our lineup for the final tournament of the year just feels right. At $6,600 with the way he’s playing, there are plenty of statistical reasons to love him too.
