MLB Home Run Prop Best Bet of the Day #1: Pete Alonso (BAL) +285

The Orioles and Rays start up a four game series in Tampa tonight with Pete Alonso swinging a hot bat as of late. He’s batting .357 and slugging .667 across the last 15 days including four home runs as we’ll look for him to cash his home run prop on Friday.

Against the Rays specifically this season he’s 9-25 with a home run with Tampa Bay sending lefty Steven Matz to the mound. The lefty has allowed 12 home runs in 62.2 innings pitched this season with seven of them coming at home in 28 innings pitched.

He has allowed right handed batters to hit .250 while slugging .513 including ten of his 12 home runs compared to left handed batters allowing a .213 average and .325 slugging percentage.

All-time Alonso is 4-10 with a home run against Matz and it’s worth noting he also has a home run against multiple Rays relievers including Jesse Scholtens, Chris Roycroft and Bryan Baker. Matz has been primarily used as a reliever since the end of May so It’ll be interesting to see how long he lasts in this one.

Alonso is currently in the midst of his best calendar month hitting this season so let’s take him to hit his home run prop at +285. Other Orioles batters to look at for a home run prop includes Coby Mayo (+375) and Gunnar Henderson (+400).

MLB Home Run Prop Best Bet of the Day #2: Shohei Ohtani (LAD) +255

The Dodgers took a tough 5-4 loss to the Brewers at home last night as these two play the second of a four-game set in LA tonight. We haven’t gone with Ohtani to hit his home run prop this season, but we feel the odds are just right to take him tonight batting .298 and slugging .532 in August including three home runs.

The Brewers send lefty Robert Gasser to the mound who has struggled on the road allowing seven of his 11 total home runs in just 30.2 innings pitched.

He allows a .276 average and .476 slugging percentage to right handed batters including nine of his 11 home runs compared to a .178 average and .356 slugging percentage against lefties.

Ohtani has been more successful against left handed pitchers this season blasting 12 of his 27 home runs in 153 at bats compared to his other 15 coming in 279 at-bats against right handed pitching.

It’s worth noting also that he has hit 16 of his 27 home runs at home while slugging .594 compared to a .504 slugging percentage on the road.

With Ohtani just three home runs away from his sixth consecutive 30+ home run season let’s take him at +255 to hit his home run prop tonight and other Dodgers batters to look at for a home run prop includes Andy Pages (+370) and Teoscar Hernandez (+400).
