Utah Jazz vs Phoenix Suns Analysis
The Phoenix Suns travel to Salt Lake City for Western Conference clash with the Utah Jazz on Friday night. The Jazz suffered a 118-111 home loss to the New York Knicks on Tuesday evening.
The Suns took care of business at home against the Golden State Warriors in a 130-119 victory Wednesday night.
This is the first of three head-to-head meetings in a regular season series that Phoenix won 3-1 during the 2021-22 campaign. Opening tip is scheduled for 9:00 PM EST/6:00 PST from Vivint Smart Home Arena.
Jazz Hope To Avoid 4th Straight Loss
The Utah Jazz have been a surprising team so far this season as they were expected to be one of the teams “tanking for Wembanyama”. They have a 10-6 record despite losing three straight games including a 118-111 home loss to the New York Knicks on Tuesday.
Kelly Olynyk led the way with a 27 point 11 rebound double-double. Jordan Clarkson added 15 points and 5 assists while Lauri Markkanen chipped in with 13 points & six boards.
Utah is one of the better scoring teams in the league as they rank 7th with 116.6 points a game. They are middle of the pack in defensive scoring at 14th with 113 points allowed per game.
Suns Snap Two Game Losing Streak
After a couple of rough road losses, the Phoenix Suns defeated the defending NBA champions the Golden State Warriors 130-119 at home this past Wednesday. It was the second time in as many tries beating the reigning NBA champs by 29 & 11 points.
Cameron Payne led the team in scoring with 29 points to go along with 7 assists. Devin Booker added 27 points & 9 assists while Mikal Bridges chipped in with 23 points & 9 assists. Phoenix is without Cam Johnson (knee) while Chris Paul is questionable with a nagging heel injury.
As usual, defense is the Suns calling card as they rank 7th with only 107 points allowed per game. Offensively they rank slightly above average with 113.7 points a game.
Utah Jazz vs Phoenix Suns Prop Prediction
The Phoenix Suns are 1.5 point road favorites over the Utah Jazz with a total of 227. The Utah Jazz played above theirs heads in the early season but seem to be regressing.
The Phoenix Suns have overcome off court issues and significant time without CP3 to remain a contender in the West. Guards in general carve up this Utah defense but prop lines haven’t been released on Cameron Payne due to the uncertainty surrounding Chris Paul’s status.
Booker has a high point and its tough to determine who will take the lions share between Book, Bridges & Payne. De’Andre is basically an afterthought, going under his 16.5 point total in 7 straight games.
Ayton couldn’t even Crack this total against the horrendous Warriors defense down low. It seems like he needs a skilled ball handler like Paul to set him up. Let’s go under on Ayton!!
