Phoenix Suns vs Miami Heat Betting Analysis
The Miami Heat travel to Phoenix for a cross-conference clash with the Suns on Friday night. The Suns were edged out 90-88 on Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers for their 4th straight loss. The Heat are also coming off a Wednesday loss 112-109 in Los Angeles against the Lakers.
This is the second and final meeting between these two teams, Miami prevailed 113-112 on November 14th against Phoenix. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:00 as the nightcap of an ESPN doubleheader from Talking Stick Resort Arena.
Suns Fading
The Phoenix Suns record dropped to 20-19 on the season after losing in Cleveland on Wednesday. It was a very evenly played two point game that may have been decided at the free throw where the Cavs had 5 more attempts and five more makes.
Chris Paul was the games leading scorer with 25 points along with 8 assists and 4 rebounds. De’Andre Ayton added a 15 point, 18 rebound double-double while Landry Shamet chipped in with 14 points. The Suns rank middle of the pack in scoring with 113.5 points a game on 46.7% from the floor.
Phoenix still has a top ten defense as they sit at 11th in defensive rating and 9th in scoring with 111.2 points allowed per game. Devin Booker, Cameron Payne and Cameron Johnson have all already been ruled out for this contest.
Heat Look For Winning Road Trip
The Miami Heat fell to 20-19 on the season after losing to the Lakers in a three-point game on Wednesday night.
The Lakers only real advantage was at the charity stripe where they went 24-30 80% compared to Miami going only 15-21 for 71.4%. Bam Adebayo led the way with a 30 point, 13 rebound double-double. Jimmy Butler added 27 points with 4 assists and 4 rebounds while Victor Oladipo chipped in with 12 off the bench.
Typical Miami, they got the job done with defense, sitting at 9th in defensive rating and 3rd in defensive scoring with only 109.5 points allowed per game. However they are also one of the worst scoring teams in the league as they rank 29th with only 109 points per game.
Duncan Robinson remains out for Miami after finger surgery while Caleb Martin, Udonis Haslem and Dewayne Dedmon are all questionable for tonight’s contest.
Phoenix Suns vs Miami Heat Prediction
This game is a virtual pick’em with the Miami Heat being favored by only 2 points with a total set at 214. A battle between teams with identical 20-19 records had a head-to-head game decided by one point in November.
However the Suns are falling apart as thry have went 2-7 since Booker went down with an injury. The backcourt will be extremely thin for Phoenix as Cameron Payne has also been ruled out.
Miami has actually been playing really well recently and won 8 of their last 12 games. Both sides can get the job done defensively but Miami’s scoring will be the difference in this game. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo will overwhelm the short-handed Suns.
Miami is 12-2 in their last 14 games in Phoenix. I’m usually looking for player props and team totals but laying the minimal spread with Heat is the best option.
