Bayern being north of -5000 on the 3-way line as well as -4.5 on the goal line sounds steep, but is absolutely deserved in what promises to be the biggest mismatch of any fixture in the entire Club World Cup. 

Given that Bayern are likely to score five goals on Sunday, I recommend hitting the player prop market, specifically Michael Olise to record an assist.

Olise led the Bundesliga in assists this past season and had 18 across all competitions for the German champs. If Bayern ends up scoring as many goals here as the odds would lead you to believe, there's a very strong possibility Olise will assist on at least one.

Two very good starters that struggled in the early going, but have pitched much better as of late do battle in Seattle. That rhyme brought to you by the Seattle grunge scene. Tanner Bibee has really gotten his control in check, if you take a look at his recent K-BB%. Traditionally better than league average with his control, with a 42 to 9 rate lately. 

George Kirby missed a lot of time on the IL, and struggled as you would expect coming back. But his last two starters were very good, especially a 14-0 K-BB rate in his last outing. This is traditionally a good pitching park that suppresses extra base hits.

Los Angeles starter Clayton Kershaw projects to give up 2.2 runs with a 3.36 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.  San Francisco’s lineup has hit just .242 (22-91) with a weak .675 OPS against Kershaw in his career.  The Giants will start Landen Roupp.  The righty projects to give up 3.0 earned runs with a 5.09 ERA and 1.52 WHIP.  With the starting pitching in Los Angeles’ favor, look for the Dodgers to get a solid home win in this game on Saturday night.

I cashed a nice a 4% BEST BET Thursday with the Brew Crew. They beat the Cardinals again last night, 3-2. That makes it six straight losses for this St. Louis team that I told you, not that long ago, was a bit of a pretender. I’d keep betting against them as they have scored a total of just four runs over their last three games. 

Meanwhile, four has been the magic number for Milwaukee as they are 32-7 this season when scoring four or more runs. Cardinals’ starter Andre Pallante has a 4.75 ERA and each of the last four games he’s pitched, the Cards’ opponent has gotten to at least four runs.

The Cardinals have gone from hot to cold.  Following a 24-9 stretch of excellence through May and into June, Oliver Marmol’s squad has seen their bats go cold, their bullpen struggle and their starting pitching show weakness while losing six consecutive games.  Marmol’s quote following last nights’ loss doesn’t inspire confidence (at least for THIS bettor) for an immediate turnaround:

"It's a tough stretch. We had a really good stretch, and now we're learning some things. We've got to find a way through it.  It (stinks), don't get me wrong.  But there's been good conversations that have come out of it, and we'll be better for it. But some guys are not feeling it right now, and we've got to continue to grind. It's not ideal, but it's part of 162.”

While the Cardinals are struggling, the Brewers are surging: 15 in their last 18 games; surging with confidence.  Starter Jose Quintana: “We've been playing better baseball the last three weeks. As soon as I came here, I knew we had a really good group in here, and now we are starting to show that. Draisaitl has gone over 3.5 shots on goal in three of the four games this series against Florida. The one game he missed this mark, he registered zero shots — something he clearly wasn’t satisfied with. He responded the next game with four shots, five shot attempts, and the game-winning goal.

When Draisaitl is active and firing the puck, the Oilers follow his lead. With this prop hitting at a 75% clip in the series and priced at +115, I’m going back to the well on this one.

The Phillies' lineup just saw Blue Jays' starter Bowden Francis last week, and short-turnaround situations like that usually benefit the hitter. After a very promising 2024 season, Francis has seemingly lost his way this year. He enters Saturday in the bottom-15th percentile among pitchers in expected ERA, expected batting average allowed, average exit velocity, chase rate, barrel rate and hard-hit rate. His hard-hit rate has climbed from 36.2-percent last year to a whopping 50.8-percent this year. Patrick Corbin was universally panned as (arguably) the worst starting pitcher in baseball the last two years. To put Francis' numbers in some context, he's currently having a worse season than Corbin ever did with the Nationals. Francis has given up 19 home runs in 13 starts this season, including two against the Phillies in 1.2 innings last week. He's only made it past the fifth inning one time in his last nine starts.

As we said last game we are not overthinking this as this total has now gone OVER in all 6 games this season. We used this as our 5% play in Game 4 and even though we believe this will go 7 for 7 we do make it a smaller play. The dynamic of Pickard in net (if he is not Knoblauch will make a fatal decision) may change the way Edmonton plays early but we fully believe that this has 2-1 written all over it again after 1 period.

This line opened -125 for Jose Ochoa and has been steamed to nearly -200. Interesting market move after losing his UFC debut and now about to face the toughest stylistic match up he's had. First thing that stuck out to me was the wide gap in competition level each faced. There's no doubt Cody Durden's faced the higher level strength of schedule being a UFC vet. Although he's had mixed results competing against high level guys like Muhammad Mokaev, Charles Johnson, Tagir Ulanbekov & Joshua Van. Tough run of opponents while Ochoa hasn't really fought anyone. Prior to losing his UFC debut against another up and comer in Lone'er Kavanagh, outside the organization it's been bottom of the barrel. Just giving the records of his last 4 opponents they are 4-5, 3-4, 7-1, & 2-7. I mean some of these guys might also work at Home Depot or Best Buy during the week. Very low level fighters with no real future in MMA. Biggest issue for Ochoa, especially at this price is Cody will be the toughest wrestler he's faced. Although Ochoa appears decently well rounded, Durden's heavy pressure wrestling style and pacing is good. He'll come out guns blazing throwing combinations seeking to cut distance shooting takedowns. The smothering pressure and chain wrestling can slowdown an active striker like Ochoa. Believe he'll find a lot of success getting the fight to the mat. Even the threat of takedowns will make Ochoa uncomfortable while Cody crashes the pocket. He will control the action and win positionally banking rounds. At nice plus money this is a dog or pass spot with value solely on the Durden side.

Haiti are +237 underdogs here, the Draw is at +217, and Saudi Arabia are +102 favourites, with the Asian Spread set at 0.25 goals and the Asian Total set at 2.25.

Books have USA as the big favourites to win the Group at -280, Saudi Arabia are the 2nd favourites at +225, while both Haiti and Trinidad & Tobago are the big underdogs at +5000 each.

This will be the 4th consecutive Gold Cup for Haiti, who reached the semi-finals in 2019, but were eliminated in the group stage in both previous editions in 2021 and in 2023.

In 2019 they actually topped their group with 3 wins, scoring twice in all 3, then eliminated Canada by 3-2 in the quarter-finals and even forced a draw in the semi-finals against Mexico, losing 1-0 in the extra time.

In 2021 they finished 3rd in the group (W1 D0 L2), losing 1-0 to USA, 4-1 to Canada and beating Martinique by 2-1, putting a good amount of shots in all 3 matches (10/10/17).

In 2023 where they did finish at the bottom of their group (Mexico, Qatar, Honduras), but did beat Qatar by 2-1 in the opener, lost 3-1 to Mexico and even took the lead in Game 3 against Honduras but eventually lost). All 3 group matches had Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals, including the 2-1 win against Qatar, the invitees of that tournament. Now they are starting off against another invited team, Saudi Arabia, who failed to qualify directly to the 2026 World Cup as they finished 3rd in the Qualifiers and now have to play an extra round of qualifiers.

Saudi Arabia did poorly on the road in a group that did have Japan and Australia, but also had Indonesia, Bahrain and China so they didn't capitalize on the fact that three of these teams were, on paper, worse than them, as also suggested by the FIFA rankings. They will now come here looking to have some fun in the Gold Cup, in a group that they could theoretically qualify from, but it ain't gonna be easy.

Haiti have a solid squad with some good players up front, Lionel Messi's teammate Fafa Picault and AEK Athens' forward Frantdzy Pierrot, along with several players who play in the Dutch, Belgian and Ecuadorian leagues, with a good degree of experience.

I don't agree with Saudi Arabia's favouritism in this spot, I think Haiti have the potential to give them a run for their money and for a side bet I am looking at Haiti +0.75 (-110), which is a split line between Haiti +1 and Haiti +0.5. This means that we get paid if Haiti win, if it's a Draw, and we get half a push and half a loss if they lose by exactly 1.

For Totals, I think the 2.25 is a tricky line, as Saudi Arabia were quite constipated in their away matches in the World Cup Qualifiers, but I feel that Haiti can score here, and this doesn't strike me as a 1-0 win for either side, so I think we will see at least two goals here, so the Over 2.25 might be the way to go in terms of totals.

But I do like Both Teams to Score, again, I think Haiti can score here and Saudi Arabia do have some firepower up front.

Mexico are the big favourites to win this group at -650, Costa Rica are at +450, Suriname are at +2000, and the Dominican Republic are at +4000.

To Qualify from this group, Mexico are -5000, Costa Rica are -280, Suriname are +300 and the Dominican Republic at +600.

Mexico are always doing well in the Gold Cup opener as they are a cut above the rest in this competition, winning 5 of L/8 Gold Cups and 9 of 17 in total. They are now starting their Gold Cup bid against a Dominican Republic side that have quite a few talented players, with a lot of them playing in Spain and some of them were even owned by Real Madrid, so you know there's talent there.

Mexico have appointed Javier Aguirre as their coach, and he is know for his tight style of play as a former manager of Mallorca, Atletico Madrid etc. His teams tend to be extremely hard to beat, even against better teams, and they are also really good in first halves. Looking at his career stats through the years, his teams tend to start off the game denying any goalscoring opportunities to visiting teams, and statistically speaking, a lot of his first halves tend to be 1-0 or 2-0, and I expect something similar in the Gold Cup opener. Tight at the back and not necessarily looking to destroy opponents, we are looking at a Mexico win somewhere around a 3-0, plus/minus one goal.

Mexico beat Turkey by 1-0 in their last friendly, were up 1-0 at Half Time. In the Nations League they were up 1-0 at HT against Panama (conceded a stoppage time penalty kick in 1H), were up 1-0 at HT against Canada), up 2-0 at HT against Internacional in a friendly, up 1-0 at HT against Honduras in the Nations League at home (and 0-0 at HT on the road), were up 1-0 at HT vs USA in a friendly and also 1-0 up at HT against New Zealand, so this is a pattern that has been showing up in a lot of matches involving teams coached by Javier Aguirre. Extremely tight at the back, usually keeping clean sheets (especially in 1H), winning by 2-0/3-0/4-0, somewhere in that region.

The Dominican Republic have been balling in their recent matches, but take those results with a grain of salt because the matches were against teams like Dominica, Bermuda, Antigua and Barbuda etc, teams that are not that good. They did lose 4-2 to Guatemala, 1-0 to Jamaica, 2-0 to Nicaragua etc, so whenever they meet against a team that is slightly better than them, they lose and often without even scoring.

The books have the Dominican Republic as the weakest team in the group, understandable since there is also Costa Rica and Suriname, and the tie breaker is goal difference, so the way I see it, the Dominican Republic don't have a lot of chances to upset Mexico here, they will try to minimize their loss, try to get a draw with Costa Rica and beat Suriname, maybe then they will have a qualifying chance, but being careless in their first match against a tough opponent and getting beat by 3-4-5 goals is probably going to destroy their already slim chances of qualifying.

Again, they do have some good units in that squad but it might be too much to take anything from the opener against the best team in this tournament. In the last 5 editions of the Gold Cup, Mexico were winning at HT in 4 of 5

Inter Miami are +115 favourites in this match, the Draw is at +270, and Al Ahly are +210 underdogs, with the Asian Spread set at 0.25 and the Asian Total set at 2.75. The match is to be played in Miami, but not at Inter Miami's home ground, but at the Hard Rock Stadium, home field for the Miami Dolphins, so this is not a soccer-specific stadium and the pitch might be an issue, as the federation is trying a new mix of natural and artificial grass in a dress rehearsal for next summer's World Cup. I am very skeptical about the pitch situation, which was a major debacle in last summer's Copa America with the pitch being in terrible shape. They are doing things differently this year, but they haven't convinced me that t he surface is going to be good. They did try to replicate the feel of European pitches but everything is experimental at this point, and I am saying this because it CAN affect the way players play and recover. And Messi and Suarez are 80 years of age, combined.

Porto are the favourites to win the group at +140, Palmeiras are 2nd favourites at +180, followed by Inter Miami at +300 and Al Ahly at +900.

By the same token, Porto are -200 to qualify from this group, Palmeiras are -175, Inter Miami are at -105 and Al Ahly are at +200

Al Ahly are participating in a Club World Cup for the 11th time, one of the best teams out of Africa with 44 domestic titles in Egypt and 14 CAF Champions Leagues.

Inter Miami are just the 2nd team from USA to feature in the Club World Cup, and can become the first MLS team to score in the competition. And they do need to score a bunch of goals if they are to progress, because their defense has been pretty bad this season, with 27 conceded goals in 16 MLS matches, but their offense is spitting fire with 36 goals.

Very open matches by Inter Miami lately, currently on a 9-0 run to the Over 2.5 goals and 8-1 to the Over 3.5, also 7-2 to the Over 4.5 Goals. They've scored 3+ goals in 4 of L/5 but have conceded 3+ goals in 6 of L/9. Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals is 8-1 in that span. So goals are to be expected from Inter Miami.

Al Ahly are 6-2 to the Over 2.5 Goals in the Championship group of their domestic league, scoring 22 goals and conceding 9 in 8 matches, with an average of 3.9 goals/match. In regular season things were pretty different, with Al Ahly being much tighter, just 5-12 to the Over 2.5 goals with an average of 2.3 goals/match, mainly due to their solid defense that conceded just 9 goals in 17 matches, but scored 30 in that span.

However, these results need to be taken with a grain of salt, as they were in their domestic league, which is nowhere near the MLS in terms of firepower, now they are going to have to deal with Messi and Suarez and the rest of Inter Miami. Their offense can definitely hurt Inter Miami, but their defense WILL be put to the test.

Inter Miami are essentially playing on home ground, they will have the crowd with them and they know that losing in Game 1 to the (seemingly) weakest team in the group will make it really hard for them to qualify.

DraftKings has released its opening point spreads and totals for every game of the NFL regular season. The Chargers will open the season with a neutral site game against Kansas City in Brazil where heat, humidity and some questionable turf may be able to slow down the high-powered Chiefs' offense. After that, DraftKings has the Chargers favored in ELEVEN-straight games. The last month of LA's schedule has some difficult games against the Eagles, Chiefs and Broncos, but the Chargers may be knocking on nine wins by Thanksgiving if they take care of business in games they are supposed to win. Jim Harbaugh's team was a good bully last season, going 10-2 straight-up in games where the Chargers were favored (both losses came as a favorite of less than a field goal). At the time that I'm writing this, the over/under line for this fight is 2.5o -280 at Draft Kings. This tells us that the fight has a good chance of being decided by the judges. Loosa has never been finished in his professional career, showcasing his durability. On the other hand, Rowe has never won a fight by decision, relying heavily on knockouts or submissions. He's 0-4 when the fight goes the distance. The price has come down a little on Loosa, giving us some extra value. I expect him to come away with the victory.

Barcelos looked rejuvenated in his last fight against Talbott, some would say it looked like he had new “vitamins”—his cardio was on another level, and he applied relentless pressure with a mix of striking and wrestling. If that same version shows up, he should be able to exploit Garbrandt’s well-known durability concerns and vulnerability to grappling pressure. Garbrandt still has speed and decent footwork, but he hasn’t shown real upside in years and tends to fade when forced into a grind. If Barcelos can mix in the takedowns and stay aggressive, he should outwork Garbrandt over three rounds. Barcelos by decision is the pick.
