THE PLAY: Minnesota Twins -129 S Lugo (RHP), J Ryan (RHP) Must Start
Joe Ryan has had a stellar season so far with a low 2.83 ERA and will be facing the Royals for the 2nd time around this season. In the first matchup back in April, Ryan threw 7 scoreless innings while giving up only 2 hits. That has been the story of Joe’s career against Kansas City as he has held them to a combined .172 batting average across 121 plate appearances. The Royals are hitting .240 over the last 15 days and are facing a tough task of turning that around against Joe Ryan. The Twins bullpen is well rested outside of Thomas Hatch and should be widely available to backup.
Seth Lugo has had a streaky year so far with a 1.26 ERA in the month of June and following that up with a 3.90 ERA in July. This will be the 2nd matchup against the Twins where we saw Seth struggle with command while walking 3, hitting 1 batter, and 1 intentional walk while giving up 2 earned runs over 5.2 innings pitched. The Twins have yet to get to Seth but do have experience against him with 41 plate appearances and I think they can build off of that while facing a struggling Lugo.

In this year's Xpressbet Kentucky Derby contest, Sean finished 6th by flipping the $2,000 bankroll into $15,681.85 while also taking home a 2024 Pegasus World Cup Betting Challenge entry valued at $6,000.
