When compared to yesterday's -220 (or more) price tag, we're getting a “bargain” on the Padres on Sunday afternoon. That's partly due to Heaney's solid overall numbers. However, a closer look shows that Heaney came back down to earth over the past month. He gave up five runs, on eight hits and three walks, in five innings last time out and he was 1-2 with a poor 4.74 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in five starts in the month of May. On the other hand, Vasquez is off a quality start and he had a stellar 2.89 ERA in five May starts. The Padres are the much better hitting team; the Pirates entered the weekend batting just .226 as a team, their .640 OPS tied for the third worst in baseball. Go with SD.
