Palmeiras vs Atletico Analysis

Top of the table Palmeiras host 15th-place Atletico GO on Thursday afternoon over in Brazil and the home side will no doubt be positive of extending their lead at the top of the table with an impressive five wins from their last six games overall.

Atletico GO, meanwhile, has won just one game on the road all year in Serie A, however that came against a good Fluminense side last time out and the ‘Dragao’ have now lost just one of their last seven matches across all competitions.

Palmeiras has a strong head-to-head record against Atletico GO over recent seasons, not having lost to Atletico GO since 2012 and covering this current -1.25 handicap line in four of their past five meetings against them.

Atletico GO Picking Up The Pace

Despite an opening six-game winless run to start this season’s Serie A campaign, Atletico GO has turned things around over recent games winning three of their last five outright in the league and losing just once.

It’s hard to look past a Palmeiras win here on Thursday as their defense has simply been sensational all season, allowing an average of just 0.45 goals per game to opponents, almost half that of second-place Corinthians.

On the other end, Atletico GO has given up an average of 1.6 goals per game to opponents this season on the road and now face the league’s top scorers at home, so it’s highly likely that Palmeiras can get on the scoresheet multiple times in this game.
