Juventus vs Freiburg Betting Analysis

German side Freiburg travel over to the Allianz Arena in Turin on Thursday night to take on one of the competition favorites in Juventus, but will no doubt be buoyed by the fact that Nantes were able to come to this same venue last month and come out with a positive result themselves.

However, Juventus had by far the better passage of play in that game, with both Chiesa hitting the bar and Juventus missing out on what looked like a penalty late on ruining the home side’s celebrations in that one, so it’ll be interesting to see whether or not they can have any more success in this one.

Irrespective of missed opportunities, Freiburg have been on a solid run of form of late, going unbeaten across their last five games in all and currently occupying 5th spot in the German Bundesliga also.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides in a major European competition.

Freiburg Hopeful For Triangle Theory

While it hardly ever matters across any sport, Freiburg will nevertheless be hoping triangle theory works out for them in this one as they absolutely roasted Nantes by a 6-0 margin across their two group stage meetings against them earlier this season while Juventus could only manage a 4-1 margin.

While the importance of said theory is questionable at best, what certainly isn’t questionable is Freiburg’s defense across this competition so far, with the German side ranking joint-2nd alongside Arsenal in terms of total goals allowed this season.

Allegri Calls For Calm

Halting a recent seven-game unbeaten run in the lead-up to Sunday’s Serie A clash against Roma, the Bianconeri saw everything unravel for them in that game, hitting the post on three separate occasions with Moise Kean receiving a straight red card late on also.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri called for calm after that game, and similar to their 2-0 defeat against Monza a few weeks ago, will look for his side to respond in their very next game with a positive result.

Juventus vs Freiburg Expert Prediction

With Freiburg having shown themselves to be defensively sound in this competition so far, along with Juventus ranking second only behind Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in terms of defensive xGA in the Europa League this year as well, we’re expecting a lower-scoring matchup between these two on Thursday.

Freiburg failed to find the back of the net against Borussia Monchengladbach on the road last weekend, and that follows on from road shutouts against two other top-ten sides in the Bundesliga over just their last six league road starts in Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich respectively.

So the German side could find things difficult in front of a hostile Turin crowd in this one. We’re taking the Both Teams to Score – No prop on Thursday in the Europa League matchup between Freiburg and Juventus.
