Chelsea vs Dortmund Betting Analysis

Chelsea face an uphill battle on Tuesday in the second leg of their Champions League knockout clash against Borussia Dortmund in London.

Chelsea arguably had the better going of it in Dortmund two weeks ago yet their attack has continued to stutter, coming out with a scoring blank in that game with the Blues scoring just seven times across all competitions since the start of November also.

Dortmund’s form meanwhile has continued to go from strength to strength, with Friday’s win against RB Leipzig their 12th straight victory across all competitions heading into Tuesday’s clash.

Dortmund Firing On All Cylinders

Der BVB have been in some electric form over the last few months, tied at the top of the Bundesliga against perennial arch-rivals Bayern Munich, and rank as the best team in Germany across 2023 so far.

However, while recent results have been kind to Dortmund, history certainly hasn’t, as they’ve lost all of their last five matchups in the English capital across recent European trips.

Chelsea Look To Turn The Tide

Graham Potter remains a man under fire ahead of Tuesday’s clash, but may well look at it as a very doable task considering how close Chelsea came to scoring in that first leg.

Thiago Silva had a disallowed goal, Joao Felix rattled the ball off the crossbar, and a combination of both Emre Can on the goalline and especially goalkeeper Gregor Kobel having an outstanding game in nets, were enough to keep Dortmund in the tie before Karim Adeyemi gave the home side the lead in that one.

Chelsea however have progressed from four of their last seven Champions League home games in which they’ve lost the first leg away from home, so they definitely shouldn’t be underestimated here.

Chelsea vs Dortmund Expert Prediction

Dortmund will no doubt be aware of their recent struggles in the English capital, not having won here in a decade, so despite their electric form of late, Dortmund will still be acutely aware of the threat Chelsea possess in what is an absolutely must-win game for Graham Potter here on Tuesday.

Chelsea finally grabbed a goal in a 1-0 home win against Leeds on Saturday, but needed that goal to come from the head of a defender as their attacking core continues to struggle.

Dortmund should be well set up defensively and only need a draw to advance in this one, so expect them to sit deep and contain Chelsea in what should be another low-scoring affair over in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Prediction: Under 2.5 (-105)
