Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Game 4 Analysis

The Calgary Flames will look for a bounceback in Game 4 later tonight as they trail the Dallas Stars two games to one in the best of seven series.

Calgary outshot Dallas in both of those losses but have come up short in the scoring department registering just two goals over their six most recent periods.

The Dallas Stars lost to the Calgary Flames twice over the regular season, but won one game up in Alberta back at the start of November.

Calgary’s Offensive Output Is Deserting Them

The Calgary Flames were one of the best offensive teams in the league over the course of the regular season, averaging 3.55 goals per game and 35.46 shots per game as well over 2021/22.

While the shot count remains similar over this postseason (Calgary have averaged 32 shots per game so far in this series), their goal tally has dropped off considerably, with their 3.55 goals per game mark dropping to just 1.00 goals per game over the series so far.

Stars Intimidating Postseason History

2-1 seems to be the Stars favorite type of series lead as since 1993 the Stars have gone an intimidating 12-0 when leading a best of seven series 2-1.

However history aside, a lot of the Stars most recent success has come down to goalie Jake Oettinger who has been absolutely sensational over this series so far, giving up just 1.01 goals against per game to Calgary with a red-hot .968 SV% as well.

Dallas Stars vs Calgary Flames Prediction

We’re going to look towards taking the Calgary Flames tonight in regulation to get the win on the road against the Dallas Stars.

Calgary have been the team in control for most of this series but their lack of clinical finishing combined with Oettinger’s exceptional performance in nets has kept them from converting that dominance in possession into goals on the scoreboard.

However, the data is all on Calgary’s side in terms of reversing that recent trend with the Flames ranking as the 4th best team in overall xG this season combined with the 4th best team in high danger scoring opportunities also.

With the Flames looking to restore home ice advantage tonight, we like them to get the outright win here and are taking the Calgary Flames to win in regulation on Monday night against the Dallas Stars.

Prediction: Calgary Flames Moneyline -160
