New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys Preview
The Dallas Cowboys meet the New York Giants in a battle between NFC East divisional rivals from MetLife Stadium on Monday Night Football.
The Giants have prevailed in two close matchups including a 19-16 victory over the Carolina Panthers last week. The Cowboys bounced back from a Week 1 loss, edging out the Cincinnati Bengals 20-17.
These squads will meet again on November 24th from AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Are you ready for some football? Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 PM EST/5:15 PST.
Giant Surprise
The New York Giants are off to a 2-0 start after finishing last season with a 4-13 record. The Brian Daboll era began with a 21-20 road win over the Tennessee Titans based on gutsy call to go for two late and a missed field goal by Titans kicker Randy Bullock.
The Giants eeked out a 19-16 victory in Week 2 on a 56 yard boomer by kicker Graham Gano with 3:34 remaining on the clock. The New York rushing attack has been elite as they rank 5th in rushing yards per game.
Saqoun Barkley has led the way, ranking 2nd with 236 rushing yards for an average of 6.1 per attempt. However their passing game ranks 31st in yards a game as Daniel Jones is 28th in the league with a 30.4 QBR.
The Giant defense has been solid thus far with only 18 points allowed per game, they currently rank 10th in passing yards allowed and 18th in rushing yards allowed.
They ranked bottom five in these categories last season, so it’s a difference of night and day. However they haven’t faced the stiffest competition and it’s still ridiculously early, so it will be interesting to see if they can maintain these rankings.
Cowboys In Rush For Second Victory
The Dallas Cowboys evened up their record with a 20-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals after losing 19-3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1.
The Cowboys are coming off a 12-5 season where they lost 23-17 at home in the Wild Card round. Dallas lost their starting quarterback Dak Prescott in Week 1 as he injured his thumb.
Backup quarterback Cooper Rush led the team to victory in Week 2 going 19 for 31 for 235 passing yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. He was able to lean on running backs Tony Pollard who rushed for 43 yards on 9 carries and Ezekiel Elliott who ran for 53 yards on 15 attempts.
Still the offense has averaged only 11.5 points a game on 201.5 passing yards and 89 rushing yards per game. The Cowboys have held their opposition to 18.5 points a game and will need a similar effort to get another victory on Monday night.
New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys Prediction
This game is a virtual pick’em with the New York Giants favored by 1 point and a total of 39. Both teams have snuck out close victories in the first two weeks of the season and at this point they are pretty evenly matched.
The Cowboys defense has played extremely well recently as they have put pressure on opposing quarterbacks with 8 sacks in only two games. They have done well against the run, so they will probably stack the box to in an attempt to shut down Barkley.
The Giants know that riding Barkley is their best chance to win the game. They also know they need to take the pressure of Daniel Jones. Saqoun Barkleys receiving total is set at 23.5, a number he cleared once and fell under once. Let’s take Barkley over 23.5 receiving yards as the Giants utilize him as a safety blanket for Jones.
